Duties This position delivers the Indigenous Awareness Learning Series training initiatives for the Indigenous Support and Awareness Office (ISAO) implemented in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action #57. This position provides an opportunity to create and design your own sessions in a dynamic learning environment. This position reports to the Manager of the Indigenous Support and Awareness Office.
Work environment The Indigenous Support and Awareness Office (ISAO) works to improve relationships with, and benefits for, Indigenous Peoples. ISAO helps AAFC support Indigenous participation in agriculture by improving recruitment and retention of Indigenous students through the Indigenous Student Recruitment Initiative, creating awareness and learning opportunities for federal government employees through the Indigenous Awareness Learning Series, and providing Indigenous and non-Indigenous AAFC staff with cultural supports including contact with Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous community members. The Office provides leadership and strategic advice to stakeholders on Indigenous awareness topics, supports the Indigenous Network Circle, and provides a cultural gathering and meeting space at the Mikinàk lodge, located on the Central Experimental Farm.

This process is intended to permanently fill one (1) Learning Advisor position within AAFC’s Indigenous Support and Awareness Office (ISAO). This position requires Indigenous knowledge and lived experience. First consideration will be given to candidates self-declaring as belonging to the Indigenous (Aboriginal) Peoples employment equity group.

Education
- Successful completion of a secondary school diploma or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. Experience
- Experience developing a Métis Nation awareness learning session.
- Experience delivering training to a diverse audience with different levels of knowledge and understanding.
- Experience providing advice on Indigenous issues to management.
