**The opportunity**:
This position will be responsible for all aspects of student recruitment and retention including student orientation, wellness events, graduation and various other student events through the year. This position will also independently be responsible for the recruitment of tutors for Ongomiizwin Education student members and be responsible for assessing the needs of the students regarding the type of tutoring required. This position will work with the Senior Lead, Indigenous Health Student Affairs with appeals, student supports, and initiating the recruitment of tutors for RFHS. This position will also be an active member of the Ongomiizwin Education team in planning all student member events including and not limited to Convocation, MSEI, and student events where relationships are built with both current and future students.

**Support Indigenous Students**: Provide assistance to Indigenous students, addressing their unique academic, cultural, and personal needs. Offer guidance and resources to help students overcome challenges and succeed in their studies.

**Mentorship Program Development**: Collaborate with faculty leadership to design and implement a mentorship program that pairs Indigenous students with mentors who can provide academic and career guidance. Monitor and evaluate the program's effectiveness.

**Tutoring Support Coordination**: Coordinate tutoring services for Indigenous students, ensuring that they have access to academic support. Work with tutors and RFHS Colleges to match students with the appropriate resources

**Student Identity Support**: Organize cultural events and activities to foster a sense of belonging and to help support students in their Indigenous identity.

**Advocacy and Outreach**: Advocate on behalf of Indigenous students to ensure that their unique needs are met. Collaborate with other university services and departments to provide a holistic support network for students.

**Data Tracking and Reporting**: Maintain accurate records of the support provided to Indigenous students and collect data on program effectiveness.

**Community Engagement**: Foster connections between Indigenous students and the broader Indigenous community. Collaborate with local Indigenous organizations and communities to create opportunities for students to engage and learn.

**Best Practices**: Stay informed about best practices in supporting Indigenous students in a university setting. Attend workshops and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- University Bachelor's degree is required (preferably in social sciences or a helping profession).
- years of directly related administrative experience required.
- year of advising/counselling experience is required
- experience working with Indigenous peoples is required.
- of holistic approach, adult education principles, and Indigenous learning styles required.
- be knowledgeable about Indigenous cultures, values and have working knowledge of cross cultural issues faced by Indigenous Students.
- within health care setting is an asset.
- acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- developed interpersonal competencies and group process skills are essential.
- solving and conflict resolution skills are required.
- be able to work in an environment that requires enthusiasm, self-motivation and flexibility.
- communication skills, both written and verbal required.
- be able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and arrange own workload.
- be proficient with Microsoft Office and using intermediate features associated with a Windows computer environment.
