**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Donor Impact, the Donor Engagement Officer will craft the strategy for and oversee the implementation of donor experiences and engagement for Carleton University.

Carleton has more than 10,000 annual and 1,000 assigned major and prospects and donors, and this role will focus on crafting engaging and transformational experiences at every level to demonstrate gratitude, enhance the donor experience, and inspire future gifts.

**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:

- Superior time and project coordination skills, a strong combination of theory and practical experience and a commitment to improving the donor experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the knowledge of how to use them to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with the other members of the Department.
- Comprehensive understanding of database management, superior computer skills including expertise in the use of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
- Strong writing skills, an ability to work to tight deadlines, superior attention to detail, skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of university clients and general public are also required.
- Knowledge of the university’s culture and institutional goals and objectives is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of event planning, be proficient in the art of contract negotiations possess superior communication and organizational skills, and have proven talent in the areas of creativity, resourcefulness, initiative, sensitivity, tact and discretion.
- An elevated degree of interpersonal skills and professionalism in dealing with community leaders, prominent alumni, and donors is required to ensure that the University is well represented in the broader community.
- A great deal of tact and diplomacy is required when dealing with various alumni and donor representatives and an understanding of how programs and events can serve to achieve broader Departmental and University-wide objectives.

**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:

- University degree.
- Five years of experience in the area of donor stewardship or fundraising, preferably in the university sector.
