Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director Business Development, Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives, the Program Officer works collaboratively with a team of other Program Officers and other HBHL staff to support HBHL’s core programming, especially training and professional development, for NeuroHub, an HBHL platform and for commercialization activities.

The successful applicant has excellent presentation skills, is comfortable with public speaking and can develop creative, engaging workshops and events that support the professional development of HBHL trainees (i.e., McGill graduate students and postdocs with an interest in neuroscience, in any department.) The Program Officer must be able to build relationships across campus and act as a liaison for HBHL. The incumbent must be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, while also calling on team members when needed.

Primary Responsibilities _(shared with at least one other Program Officer)_

HBHL Training Program Support
- Identify the evolving training needs of Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL) NeuroHub users (i.e., McGill researchers, graduate students, and postdocs with an interest in neuroscience, in any department) through liaising with the trainees, their supervisors, and HBHL stakeholders as well as benchmarking with other institutions to make recommendations for comprehensive and targeted programming.
- Work with the HBHL NeuroHub team to develop and implement short-term and long-term goals and a plan for growth and sustainability of the program over time.
- Develop new platform training programming for HBHL trainees including workshops, experiential learning opportunities, mentorship programs and other activities. The portfolio of available offerings at various levels (i.e., introductory, and advanced workshops) will grow each year.
- Collaborate with expert facilitators from on-campus and external groups.
- Design online resources focused on professional development to complement the events.
- In collaboration with the HBHL Business Development Unit, recruit, mentor and support the HBHL Trainees through their use of the NeuroHub platform.
- Work with the HBHL Communications Officer to ensure the platform is communicated to HBHL trainees and researchers to generate interest and use.
- Communicate training-related data with HBHL stakeholders through annual reports.
- Design and administer platform assessment to identify areas of strength and continuously improve areas of weakness.
- Review, analyze, and make recommendations for future programming based on assessment outcomes.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or abilities:

- Excellent communication skills—both written and oral—are extremely important to this position.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail. Creative, strategic thinking skills.
- Some experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection/analysis would be an asset.
- An existing professional network in areas such as Student Life and Learning and relevant faculties, departments or offices at McGill would be an asset.
- Must have strong organizational, priority-setting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Able to establish and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, both within and outside of the University.
- Ability to track and analyze a high volume of information.
- Demonstrated ability to use databases, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
- English and French, spoken and written
- McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #3 on a scale of 0-4.”
