Ruth and Naomi’s Mission has been in Chilliwack for over 20 years. From handing out sandwiches to the homeless in downtown Chilliwack, we have grown to encompass three locations in Chilliwack - and from 4 employees to almost 100 We are operating 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

In our Community of Chilliwack, we serve over 300 meals each day; we place 120 people into permanent housing every year; and, we support 35 residential recovery beds for men and womenjust to name a few of our services. **Position Summary**:
The bookkeeper is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in day-to-day operations including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, information technology, petty cash, and financial reporting. In fulfilling this responsibility, the bookkeeper supports the financial needs of the organization. Situationally, and as directed by the Finance Manager, there may be a requirement for the bookkeeper to complete or initiate more in-depth work.

**Organizational Status**:
This position reports directly to the Finance Manager. In the absence of the Finance Manager, the bookkeeper seeks direction and support from the Executive Director. The bookkeeper works primarily in an open office environment with interruptions by phone calls, staff, volunteers, and donors.

After learning the tasks of the position as well as becoming knowledgeable as to how the Mission operates, it is expected that the bookkeeper will be able to work independently on a daily basis, deferring to or working with the Finance Manager for tasks beyond their experience.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Assist with payroll via Payworks, including management of employee information, accruals, and time off
- Process and post invoices/payables to Sage
- Oversee purchasing and manage vendor accounts
- Process and post receivables and donations
- Follow up with outstanding accounts
- Assist with organizational and program expense/budget management
- Prepare reconciliations for bank balance, visa balance, petty cash, or payroll
- Assist in management of petty cash
- Assist in oversight and implementation of financial policies
- Assist with preparation of government reports such as GST rebates and grant reporting
- Assist with donor management and preparation of tax receipts
- Compile data, statistics, and other information for strategic decision making
- Assists with weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports
- Assist with management of computerized information filing systems (OneDrive/Teams/SharePoint)
- Assist with implementation of IT systems across the organization (Power BI)
- Assist with preparation of applicable journal entries of financial activities
- Type and proofread correspondence, forms, and other documents
- Proactively gatekeep and organize all paper / electronic needs / signage /appointments for staff and volunteers as required
- Perform data-entry as needed
- Participate in meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned

**Education & Work Experience**:

- Grade 12 education or equivalent is required
- Minimum 5 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience
- Certificate or post-secondary education in accounting is an asset
- IT experience
- A Criminal Check is required (to be completed as part of the hiring process)

**Skills**:

- Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft suite (Excel/Sharepoint/Teams/Power BI) and Sage 50
- A understanding of management accounting, budgeting practices, financial planning, and general business practices
- Experience in financial management and administration
- Outstanding organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize according to the needs of the Mission, Management, and timing
- Respectful of RAN Mission’s faith-based commitment
- Able to communicate in writing in a factual and concise manner
- Maintain Personal and Professional Boundaries
- Adept at multitasking and coping with conflicting priorities
- Confident self-starter and team player

Must be able to act with discretion to protect the confidentiality of donor, client, and staff information
