This position is based at the UBC School of Nursing and the Women’s Health Research Institute and its part of a larger grant titled “The CART Access project: Advancing access to abortion for under-served populations through tools for healthcare professionals and people seeking care” Led by PI, Wendy Norman, a Professor and Lead Investigator of the Contraception and Abortion Research Team. By working collaboratively with project partners and health professional associations in Canada, the project aims to improve access to abortion resources by redesigning our virtual community of practice platform from a research implementation tool to a public/open-access platform with an option for healthcare professionals to subscribe to the site newsletter. The Contraception and Abortion Research Team

) is a national, interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral research team conducting research to support health services and policies and clinical practice to ensure equitable access to high-quality family planning knowledge, methods and services for women and families throughout Canada. The team is based within the Women’s Health Research Institute located in BC Women’s and Children's Health Centre. This team works closely with knowledge users in health policy and health system leadership positions to identify priority research areas and to ensure rapid uptake and implementation of findings to policy, systems, and practice. The Research Associate will be based in the co-Investigator’s Research Unit at the UBC School of Nursing in Vancouver, BC and the Women’s Health Research Institute.

The nature of the research to be undertaken under the direction of the faculty investigators includes:
- Coordinating research activities among co-investigators and content experts- Engage with various health professional groupsto generate relevant content related to abortion provision in Canada. The groups include but not limited to the Canadian Nurses Association, Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Canadian Pharmacists association, and Canadian Midwives Association.-
- Assisting investigators to conduct aspect of research activity implementation, data collection, analysis and knowledge translation activities.- Engaging with a multidisciplinary team of co-investigators and collaborators to optimize our national research activities- Facilitating presenting findings at local, national, and international meetings where relevant.- Assisting with preparing communication materials for community members and other stakeholders, including production of an annual newsletter and updating to the word-press based team website- Supervise and mentor research assistants and trainees in conducting literature reviews, providing leadership in the review of extant scholarship, identifying and selecting relevant theoretical and empirical materials relevant to the study- Conduct data coding and analysis in collaboration with the research team, supervising coding and analysis activities conducted by research assistants, trainees, and contractors- Perform other duties as required.
