The Vancouver Prostate Centre (VPC) has an exceptional opportunity available for **a temporary, fulltime Research Associate** to join Dr. Lucia Nappi’s research lab.
- **As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.**_

**Nappi Lab**

Dr. Nappi is a clinician scientist medical oncologist. The Nappi laboratory’s main research focus is the study of molecular mechanisms mediating resistance to the targeted and chemotherapy agents in genitourinary tumors, drug discovery and identification of new biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment response in patients with genitourinary malignancies.

**Responsibilities**

The Research Associate is responsible for carrying out high level, complex research projects under the direction of their PI, and in collaboration with other faculty members and researchers. PIs designate Research Associates to provide day to day operational leadership in the laboratory.

Responsibilities include:

- Conduct original research.
- Author, publish and present research findings.
- Keep current in field of cancer research. Network and collaborate with internal and external researchers.
- Oversee lab operation and research activities as assigned by PI. Research Associate will be responsible for supervision, mentorship, and training of lab trainees and staff.
- Responsible for research design, methodology determination, data collection, advanced analysis of research results, quality control, and assignment of day to day work activities of Laboratory Research Assistants and trainees.
- Optimize experimental protocols.
- Design and perform bench experiments.
- Address safety concerns immediately and ensure all team members receive relevant orientation, training and work performed in accordance with relevant policies and legislation.
- Handle administrative duties related to running of the lab such as equipment/facility management, training, and assignment of work.

**Qualifications**
- PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or similar.
- Ability to multitask and to work under strict deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and continuously assess priorities.
- Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to deliver presentations and present information clearly and concisely.
- Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
- Friendly and respectful team player.

**Decision Making/Level of Accountability**

High. Decisions will impact ability of assigned laboratory to function in an effective manner.

**Supervision Received**

Works within broad parameters. Work reviewed by Principal Investigator.

**Supervision Given**

Supervise, coach, guide, and mentor all members of assigned research team.
