**Position Summary**:
The International Business Development Manager (BDM) leads in the planning and execution of international business strategy either virtually or while in country and functions as a primary International student recruiter and engagement manager for Seneca College.

The assigned country/ region for this incumbent will be China.

The incumbent implements strategy and tactics for their country/countries or region with respect to marketing and customer services for international student recruitment, partnership development and contract training. The incumbent regularly visits their country or region (three to four times each year) to attend promotional events such as education fairs, recruitment seminars, school visits and agency visits.

The BDM works independently in leading student/agency engagements and provides crucial input and assistance in setting targets for the Annual Business Plan and manages direct international advertising, promotion and marketing efforts ensuring the College maintains high visibility throughout the region.

The incumbent collaborates with key Seneca and Seneca International team members in the development and implementation of marketing strategy and tactics for their country/countries or region. This activity includes special campaigns, travel to and support of markets, multi-level client support including senior institution, consular and agency leadership; advising prospective international student in recruitment settings, dealing with conflict and negotiating partnership development and contract training opportunities.

Onsite work will vary depending on operational needs. Currently managers average anywhere from 2-3 days per week working onsite. This may be increased as required.

Flexibility on work times will be needed due to the nature of international work and time zone differences based on the assigned region.

**Responsibilities**:

- Executes the international student recruitment plan for the region he/she covers.
- Spends about 1/3 of the time in the region’s countries, attracts qualified non-Canadians into full time post-secondary diploma, degree or post-graduate programs, by implementing the annual recruitment plan, techniques and strategies set in coordination with the Regional Director while using appropriate promotional material distributed in a comprehensive and timely manner (education fairs, agency visits, school visits).
- Manages and follows up with prospects/leads and new agents’ inquiries in a timely manner to ensure optimum conversion rate and customer service.
- Provides inputs and market insights to Seneca’s Marketing Department in designing appropriate promotional materials in the region’s language(s) for production by the College’s Marketing Communication Department and/or outsourced.
- Ensures that the limited financial, human and physical resources are used effectively by exercising sound planning and business practices.
- Evaluates the work done by regularly tracking market data, travel expenses, effective digital & in-market marketing tactics, student enrolment data, and agency performance to assess the success of the annual recruitment efforts. This data will provide evidence for the strategic suggestions presented to the Regional Director, who will design the overall regional recruitment strategy by country.
- Takes ownership of their professional development and remains current on international trends, competitive intelligence and has a thorough understanding of Seneca’s programs.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Minimum completed four (4) year degree in International Business, Marketing, Social Media Marketing or related field. If education is not in a related field of study, please state how it is relevant.
- Relevant certifications including : Registered International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) Certificate in good standing with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council would be an asset.
- Completion of Master’s Degree would be an asset.

**Experience**:

- Minimum seven (7) years of relevant work experience related to international markets including experience working with partners globally.
- Experience with International post-secondary institution which includes experience working with parties and partners outside of Canada is preferred.
- Experience with international recruitment for China and/or Chinese speaking regions are strongly preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year experience living/working in another country than Canada for a minimum of one (1) year.
