The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive support for PCs, servers, and network infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, ensuring system stability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance overall IT efficiency. As the main technical support person at EFC, this position provides opportunities for personal and technical growth.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for PCs, servers, and network equipment.
- Provide technical support to end-users, including training and guidance.
- Administer, maintain and monitor EFC’s IT environment including network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Negotiate with contractors on service and project requests, and coordinate the process of requests for quotes, purchase order initiation and expense monitoring.
- Conduct regular system and network audits to identify potential vulnerabilities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Analyze, collaborate and coordinate with other IT professionals to implement and support IT projects.
- Coordinate and act as the main Point of Contact with EFC’s Managed Service Provider.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to continuous improvement.

**Qualifications/Skills**:

- Familiarity of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
- Hands-on experience with network devices, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V).
- Proficient in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate tasks.
- Familiarity with MS Office, SharePoint and Zoom

**Education and Experience**:

- College diploma/degree in computer systems, networking, IT or related field.
- Three years proven experience in PC, server, and network support roles.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server are an asset.

**EFC’s IT Environment**

EFC operates in a Windows environment. The main software used is Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint. The network uses Sophos equipment. EFC engages with a Managed Service Provider (MSP) that provides services such as purchasing, equipment installation, liaising with equipment suppliers, and acting as a technical support escalation point for the IT Support Specialist.
