- The Labour Relations (LR) division of Human Resources (HR) has an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for labour relations to join their team of hardworking and dedicated professionals. As an LR Consultant, you work in a fast-paced environment, being called upon to provide counsel on both strategic and complex labour relations matters while contributing to the development and implementation of best practices for The City of Calgary. You will provide research and tactical assistance during collective bargaining and will be involved in a variety of labour relations activities related to a number of diverse bargaining units. Primary duties include:
- Interpretation and administration of collective agreements, City policies, and employment legislation.
- Advise on employee performance management, corrective action including discipline, and attendance support.
- Build effective relationships and collaborating with a wide variety of interested parties.
- Utilize sound judgement, tact and discretion to analyze complex situations, identifying solutions, and making appropriate recommendations.
**Qualifications**
- A degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Human Resources, or related field and at least 5 years of related labour relations experience.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- Experience providing HR advice and support, preferably within a public sector unionized environment.
- Conflict management skills, the ability to problem solve, work effectively in a team environment, and understand organizational sensitivities.
