On behalf of Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services, the Registries Division has responsibility for the effective administration of the business, vital statistics and land registries, and the Provincial Tax Commission in furtherance of the department’s mandate.

**About Our Opportunity**:
In this leadership role you will develop innovative solutions to resolve customer service issues and problems within the provisions of the applicable statutes and regulations while considering privacy and security requirements. You will oversee a diverse group of staff, promoting a culture of teamwork and cooperation, ensuring that the provisions of the collective agreement are appropriately considered; accommodate the requirement of external partners and stakeholders within the resource capacity of the unit; and resolve disputed issues with internal and external partners as well as service providers as the issues are escalated.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
The primary accountabilities of this position include but are not limited to:

- Provide expert advice regarding any matter arising under the three above-mentioned statutes.
- Provide issue assessment and prioritization related to programs within Vital Statistics.
- Facilitate program improvements within Vital Statistics
- Manage all Agreements (SLAs and MOUs) within the Vital Statistics program
- Ensure that release of, or access to, highly sensitive vital event data or information is consistent with privacy principles and Vital Statistic’s legislation and regulations.
- Ensure that all records of life events in the province of Nova Scotia are safely and permanently retained for future generations as required by Statute.
- Support the Director / Deputy Registrar General in the management and optimization of the Vital Statistics program.
- Effectively manage Vital Statistics' human resources

**Qualifications and Experience**:
The following are considered strong assets:

- Knowledge and experience in program delivery in a legislated environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage working relationships with provincial and federal government departments.
- Experience assisting with program evaluation, legislation and policy development, and priority setting for the Vital Statistics program.
- Ability to communicate fluently in both French and English.
