**The Role**

Are you passionate about supporting local and independent businesses? Do you have experience in business development, management, or policy-making? Are you looking for a rewarding Volunteer position within your community? If yes, keep reading

The Old Strathcona Farmers Market Society (OSFMS) is looking for a part-time volunteer board member. We run a year-round Farmers Market in the heart of Old Strathcona. By volunteering with the OSFM, you will help foster small businesses, support local producers, and provide community insight to our Board of Directors. Our Directors meet in person on the last Tuesday of every month at 6 PM.

**Requirements of Board Members include**:

- Ability to commit 8-10 hours per month to Board and Committee meetings.
- Commitment to the work of the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market.
- Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance (policy, finance, business development, strategic planning, etc.).
- Willingness to serve on Committees (e.g. HR, Governance, Finance, Revitalization).
- Ability to complete a 3-year term on the Board of Directors.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- A professional background and experience in a legal, financial, or business management position is considered an asset.
- Previous Board experience is considered an asset.
- Must not have a personal or business relationship with any OSFM vendors.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a clean criminal record.
- Must not be in bankruptcy.
