Edmonton, Canada MS Canada Full time

The Friendly Visiting Program aims to improve the quality of life of people with MS who live in long-term care by fostering supportive relationships between a resident and a volunteer. Your role is to visit with a resident at least twice per month to:

- Reduce social isolation among those aged 65 and younger
- Provide support, companionship, and appropriate activities to the resident (e.g., play a game, discover things that interest the resident)
- Share information about MS, MS Canada, and appropriate community resources
- Increase MS Canada’s awareness of the needs and issues of individuals living in continuing care

This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and a high level of reliability and responsibility. Volunteers must be empathetic, supportive, and should be based in Edmonton, Calgary, or the surrounding communities.

As a Friendly Visiting Program volunteer, you will gain:

- Training on a variety of topics, such as information about MS, communication, and boundary-setting
- Opportunities to connect with members of your community and to other volunteers
- Experience working in the non-profit and health services sector

We request a one-year commitment for this role. Please note that if successful, this position will require the completion of a vulnerable sector check and may have additional onboarding requirements depending on the long-term care home you visit (e.g., TB testing, proof of immunization).
