**Job Title**: Director, Retail
**Job Summary**: The Director, Retail is responsible for the overall operations and profitability of the entire retail division.
**Reports To**: President & CEO.
**Scope of Responsibilities**:
- Ensure profitable operations at all locations and make changes as required on an ongoing basis to ensure operations are running efficiently.
- Ensure all locations are coordinated in their operations.
- Seek efficiencies and cost control across the division.
- Set fuel pricing policies.
- Set margin policies.
- Review overall purchasing programs and make changes as required.
- Ensure inventory systems in place including periodic audit and inventory counts completed.
- Review overall staff levels and make changes as required.
- Managing and motivating the retail team to increase sales and ensure efficiency.
- Working with team to manage stock levels and making key decisions about stock control.
- Analysing sales figures and forecasting future sales.
- Analysing and interpreting trends to facilitate planning.
- Record sales figures, for data analysis and forward planning.
- Ensure staff are meeting targets as set by the Store Manager(s), and make changes as required.
- Establish a succession plan for all locations and ensure training is taking place to ensure back-ups are in place.
- Ensuring standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met.
- Resolving health and safety, legal and security issues.
- Updating colleagues on business performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues.
- Touring the retail operations regularly, talking to colleagues and customers, and identifying or resolving urgent issues.
- Developing and executing marketing and business strategies to increase traffic in all stores.
- Responding to customer complaints and comments as required.
- Maintaining awareness of market trends in the industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are doing.
- Community involvement, engaging the community and participating in fundraising events.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- 5 - 7 years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment or equivalent management experience.
- The ability to quickly adapt to new communities and situations.
- Experience in retail distribution, budget planning, inventory control, cost control, and revenue generation.
- Knowledge of store point of sales systems and computer literacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Enthusiastic attitude that’s paired with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to problem solve and take initiative for an entire team.
- Commitment to building relationships with people from all walks of life.
- Proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills.
- Motivated and adventurous personality.
