Summary:
Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, Virtual Care, the Peer Support and Family Engagement Coordinator acts as a leader and member of a community based integrated team, utilizing consumer knowledge gained from lived experience of Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) in supporting the organization's peer and family training, education and support programs and/ or engagement services. Foundry Virtual provides online youth and family peer support services to youth and youth adults with, and affected by, Mental Health and Substance Use concerns. The Peer Support and Family Engagement Coordinator will coordinate curriculum development, implementation and evaluation of youth peer and family support engagement services. The Coordinator will make recommendations and support on-going modifications to the youth peer and family support programs and/ or services. Provides one on one support to youth and families with mental health and substance use related issues, builds relationships and determines family needs. The Coordinator will assist with the recruitment and intake of the Youth Peer Support Workers/Peer Support Workers while facilitating peer based mentoring and guidance. Assesses peer support workers readiness to participate in program activities, provides practicum placements and liaises periodic check-ins. The Peer Support and Family Engagement Coordinator builds linkages with community agencies and service providers for the coordination and integration of youth and family-focused Mental Health and Substance Use, attends team meetings, case conferences, provides education sessions within the organization, acts as a leader on the Youth Advisory Committee and participates in the network for peer and family support initiatives.

Qualifications / Skills and Education:
Education

Diploma in Community Social Services or a related field from a recognized program and two (2) years' recent, related experience working with Youth or Families with Mental Health and Substance Abuse issues or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Lived experience with mental illness/substance use and recovery, plus completion of/ eligible for completion of a recognized peer support training program

Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse youth and family populations with Mental Health and Substance Use related issues and to recognize and respond appropriately to the needs of the clients.
- Ability to adjust to new or unexpected events, analyze complex situations, problem-solve, think critically and deal effectively with conflict situations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of youth mental health resources and youth and family community service.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, facilitate and monitor program progress.
- Ability to provide work direction and demonstrated ability of facilitation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
- Knowledge of research and quality improvement principles.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates, plans and facilitates the youth peer and family training, education and support programs and/ or services in partnership with established or potential partnering organizations, agencies or involved families. Assists with curriculum development and implementation and coordinates the Youth Peer Support/Peer Support Workers to ensure the program initiatives are met. Acts as a peer-representative and shares own consumer knowledge to ensure the program is developed from a youth/lived experience perspective.

2. Supports and makes recommendations to the Clinical Coordinator, Virtual Care in the development and on-going modifications of the youth peer and family training, education and support programs and/ or services in collaboration with established or potential partnering organizations, agencies or involved families. Shares the program modifications, accomplishments and opportunities with other peer and family support networks.

3. Provides one on one support to youth and families with mental health and substance use related issues as required. Establishes relationships with involved families and determines family's needs.
