The position will involve working at Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, Regina Campus, and normally involves working Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
This position involves providing support for a project funded by CIHR around cross-sectoral collaboration (CSC) to improve outcomes for children/youth in vulnerable contexts using TRiP (The Regina intersectoral Partnership) as a case study. Here you will join a team that is conducting a formative process evaluation of TRiP activities. The research will draw on interviews with stakeholders from different human service organizations and persons with lived experience as well as facilitated activities (i.e., World Café, Nominal Group Technique (NGT)), observation, and document reviews, to identify factors influencing collaboration and service coordination across sectors and its sustainability over time. Our process evaluation will examine governance, organization, funding structure, accountability mechanisms and factors influencing the design, implementation, and sustainability of this CSC initiative.
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**
The successful applicant will:
- Coordinate effectively different activities within the project.
- Organize time effectively so that research participants’ engagement/recruitment, data collection and analysis, research outputs, and logistics are produced by set deadlines.
- Support data collection and analysis and co-convene focus groups and/or policy roundtables.
- Support with collecting and analyzing policy documents.
- Support with conducting scoping reviews.
- Support with preparing various research outputs including peer-reviewed journal articles, research reports, policy briefs, briefing notes, and conference papers.
- Communicate effectively by regularly updating the research team on research participants’ recruitment/engagement, data collection and analysis.
- Present and communicate research results to a variety of audiences and in different venues (i.e., local, provincial, national and international conferences, workshops, webinars, team meetings as well as in various written publications).
- Communicate effectively with project’s diverse stakeholders (e.g., policy and decision makers, service providers, people with lived experiences, etc.).
Position Requirements
- Graduate degree and related experience in public policy, public and population health, health policy, or relevant social science disciplines; minimum of a Master’s degree in hand.
- Strong qualitative research skills in collecting data (using interviews, focus group, policy document analysis, observation, consensus building methods such as NGT or World Café) and analyzing qualitative data (e.g., thematic analysis, grounded theory).
- Experience of conducing process evaluation is a significant asset.
- Experience of conducting focus groups and/or policy roundtables is a significant asset.
- Experience of conducting scoping reviews is a significant asset.
- Experience writing reports for public dissemination is an essential asset.
- Proven ability to deliver high quality publications that meet rigorous quality standards.
- Knowledge of bibliographic research methods and strong search skills in different electronic academic databases (PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, EMBASE, EBSCO, Scopus) as well as grey literature sources.
- Experience and proficiency with qualitative software (NVivo), citation and bibliographic software (EndNote), Canva, as well as Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are significant assets.
- Experience managing multiple projects and working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and various stakeholders is an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to meet conflicting priorities and balance multiple projects.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while remaining adaptable and flexible in a fast-moving and changing environment.
- Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to details
Physical Demands Pay Grade As Per CUPE 5791 Research Salary Range $55,000-$62,000 per year depending on qualifications and experience Status Term Work Hours
This is a one-year full-time position with the possibility of extension. There is some flexibility regarding the hours of work and the location. Specific arrangements will be determined in consultation with the Principal Investigator.
