**General Accountability**

The Payroll Administrator works with the Finance team and is responsible for understanding, processing, and communicating payroll and payroll specific accounting reconciliations in accordance with CLS’s financial reporting framework, and government regulations.

The incumbent of this position works in collaboration with other Finance team members and acts as back-up for various roles within Finance as needed.

There are both opportunities as well as expectations that the incumbent be flexible in terms of functions and tasks within Finance.

**Nature and Scope**

This position liaises frequently and regularly with all members of the Finance, Human Resources and Operations teams. A good working relationship must be maintained with the CLS Directors, administration, employees and individuals supported. Business relationships are to be cultivated and maintained with employment, finance, insurance, housing, ministry and other government bodies, auditors, other external consultants and professionals.

The most important decisions and responsibilities of this position include those associated with CLS finance operations to include, but not be limited to, all related reconciliations and regulatory requirements related to payroll and benefits remittance.

**Principal Functions and Accountabilities**
- Is flexible to the changing needs and roles within Finance and works cooperatively to meet these demands.
- Addresses training and professional development needs to successfully undertake present or new responsibilities.
- Administers, reconciles and remits benefits, including: MSP, Extended Health, Dental, Life Insurance, Dependant Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance, Long Term Disability Insurance, RRSPs, and Pension.
- Prepares and distributes personalized letters to employees including: Annual Benefits Confirmation, Semi-annual RRSP/Pension confirmation, Annual Canada Savings Bond Confirmation/Change, and Annual TD1/TD1BC confirmation.
- Prepares required periodic reporting such as: Records of Employment, T4s, WCB Reports, EI and other payroll related or regulatory audit related reports.
- Responds promptly to internal and external inquiries.
- Works in a team environment to ensure the timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll.
- Administers, reconciles, and remits other benefits such as employee bonuses, cell phone allowance, pay in lieu of benefits, etc.
- Reconciles employee deductions, employer contributions and ensures employee payroll processing is complete, accurate, timely, and aligned with expectations.
- Maintains employee records from biweekly collection of documents through permanent archiving of files.
- Provides support to the Manager of Finance and Payroll and Controller and performs other duties as assigned.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Canadian Payroll Designation: Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP), and/or equivalent education and work experience.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in leading payroll processing for 500+ employees.
- Experience with UKG Pro is an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Intermediate to Advanced skill level with Microsoft Excel is required.
- Must have a strong aptitude for working with Canadian payroll process and understands the fundamentals of payroll processing, regulatory requirements, and filing deadlines.
- A Criminal Record Check is required.
- A versatile and adaptable demeanor, having the ability to work independently as well as in a team, a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to handle detailed work are important.

**Term/Status**: 35 hours/week

**Annual Salary**:Starting at $70,000
