**About the Role**

Reporting to the Director, Payroll, the Manager, Payroll will manage a team of Payroll Specialists who process and distribute payrolls for 1,200+ employees in North America.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage the team that is responsible for processing, and distribution of Canadian and US payrolls (20+ total pay groups).
- Manage and maintain timely compliance for payroll, legal and tax reporting filings.
- Understand the link between payroll and finance and collaborate closely with finance team on any issues.
- Respond to information requests and assist in the implementation of key initiatives impacting payroll, including acquisitions of new assets/employees.
- Act as liaison with HRIS vendor to address and resolve issues and discrepancies.
- Manage and lead the payroll team by training and developing the Payroll Specialists and ensuring cross training.
- Continuously review and improve processes and procedures.
- Other duties as required.

**Knowledge and Experience Required**
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage a large number of payrolls while working under tight deadlines.
- Proven track record of collaborating and working with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Flexible and adaptable: willing and able to change priorities to achieve team objectives.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Canadian and US payroll for both union and non-union employees; with a minimum of 3 years in management.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with payroll certification considered an asset.
- Experience working in a public and/or fast growth company.
- Strong knowledge of both Canadian and US payroll practices.

Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 3 days to perform most effectively. We will reassess the approach on a as needed basis.
