**POSITION OBJECTIVE**
The Training and Development Manager is responsible for the training of the Company’s operations employees through the delivery and evaluation of training programs targeted at improving employee service and support performance. This position will develop and use current systems to train employees in developing skills that enable them to perform their jobs and their ongoing development. The Training and Development Manager will also develop training processes for lab employees when changing jobs, for career progression, and ongoing training, and assist managers with developing training material and plans for their department needs.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING**:

- Develop and conduct job training and development programs for operations employees. Responsible for creating the curriculum including creating PowerPoint presentations, delivering the training, and keeping the training up to date with any changes in procedures, technology, etc.
- Develop material to train newly hired operations employees on basic optics, terminology, and the lens production process. Provide training for specific positions and assist supervisors with on-the-job training and train-the-trainer programs. Maintain employee tracking system to ensure all employees have completed required and assigned training.
- Develop a curriculum for employee development and career progression which will also include personal skills training that is not job specific. Work with upper management to create training and experience goals to develop employees to be able to advance to the next job level such as Technician 1 to Technician 2.
- Work with the regional Lab Managers, Director of Operations, Engineering and others on specific training goals and objectives. Training will be deployed to all regional centres and travel will be required to these locations.
- Seek feedback on the training programs conducted form the employees to implement changes geared towards continuous improvements in the training programs.
- Plan and deploy training programs in the Operations organization to meet the strategic goals and objectives of the company.
- Work on special projects as requested from management.

**INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN &SKILLS**
- Design courses at the strategic needs of the departments
- Coordinate with departments to have an agreed upon design and organization to online and live courses (design process)
- Assist with formatting and course material creation
- Provide editorial review of training materials to ensure grammatical and style accuracy based on style guide requirements.
- **Support version control of training materials of Core processes, Process control through regular Audits and creating SOP’s and Work Instructions. Support the development of QMS system.**
