**CATERING SALES & EVENTS MANAGER**
Wall Centre Hotels is looking for a dynamic individual to join our growing team. As a strong individual in sales with a detailed eye to plan and execute events. You have the ability to uncover new business opportunities through prospecting, client interaction while also working with the client to service their upcoming event/meeting. This role requires a positive demeaner and a self motivated yet team centric spirit.
This position reports to the Director of Meetings & Events and Director of Sales & Marketing
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- First point of contact for incoming leads or solicited leads.
- Aggressively solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through outside sales calls and written communication as provided by DME & DOSM
- Plan and detail all meetings and events that they book, as well as any additional events as assigned by Director of Meetings & Events, booked by the Sales Department.
- Up-sell food & beverage, audio visual, decor, external services, etc. that pertain to the group/client.
- Navigate multiple clients and interactions
- Enter all booking notes and information for successful execution of function, including any trace notes for follow up.
- Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
- Participate or lead in catering sales presentations, property tours, pre-event meetings, training, client meetings and other sales-related meetings as required.
- Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to clients.
- Assist in developing banquet menu pricing and revenue minimums using current competitive data.
- Tour, inspect and monitor function rooms and presentations.
- Attend and be actively involved at all internal meetings to ensure success of the event by distributing & communicating key information to all departments concerned.
- Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees will be required to work in other departments where needed when business levels in the Meetings & Events department are low.

- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Meetings & Events & Director of Sales & Marketing
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Excellent guest service and sales skills.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated with high energy levels.
- Ability to multitask and navigate complex situations
- Previous catering, convention services, and/or meetings & events experience preferred.
- Previous sales experience an asset
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English, a second language is an asset.
- Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Self-motivated, displaying strong initiative and independent decision making.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as Delphi Diagramming and CI/TY is preferred.
- Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints independently.
- Have a sense of urgency and able to meet deadlines.
- Must possess well-paced mobility as job requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking and get to other departments in the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be available to work outside of traditional business hours (evenings and/or weekends).
- Must be available to work and travel to the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel when needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be familiar with computers and laptops.
- Must be familiar with typical office machines: fax, photocopier etc.
- Valid class 5 Driver’s License is required.
