Why is this role important?- The Financial Business Analyst will also support the ongoing development and enhancement of the Finance activities. The incumbent will be responsible for understanding and creating business requirements, building quality and efficient Finance processes, and technical writing activities related to the development, implementation and roll-out of Finance branch priority projects.
- What you'll do
- 1. Participates in the development and ongoing maintenance and enhancements of the Finance/business systems and ERP modules. Identifies areas for improvement and possible efficiencies with a focus on process reliability and cost effectiveness by analyzing users’ needs and evaluating system capabilities and functionalities. Makes recommendations. Develops change plans, creates and executes testing plans, and liaises with IT staff and users. Coordinates Finance resources, as required.
- 2. Provides professional and timely technical support to others within the Finance branch. Assists other’s efforts to trouble-shoot daily Finance ERP problems. Coaches others to come up with recommendations and to make decisions related to processes and/or solutions (impact and/or improvement). Performs complex troubleshooting when others’ do not have the required technical expertise, liaising with ITS team members as required.
- 3. Develops user-friendly documentation, communication and learning materials to increase awareness, facilitate knowledge transfer and support implemented enhancements. Coordinates and delivers training sessions, as required.
- 4. Develops and performs complex reporting functions of the Finance/business systems and ERP modules. Supports data integrity in the Finance modules by running queries and analyzing data; ensures ongoing data validation and audit reports.
- 5. Coordinates the development of new, regular, ad hoc, and customized reports by identifying specifications and requirements and performing comprehensive testing to ensure all reports are production-ready prior to release.
- 6. Working with the Controller, responsible for the ongoing security administration and assessment based on CIHI - ITS requirements and processes. Conducts regular security audit procedures and performs on-going monitoring of role changes, including running Employee Movement Monitoring reports.
- 7. Supports the Corporate Reporting team by maintaining and monitoring the access to corporate reporting folders, maintaining and leading any changes to the chart of accounts and reporting structure.- 9. Participates on CIHI project teams as required and assumes responsibility for other related duties as assigned.
- 10. Maintains a strong knowledge of CIHI policies, procedures, internal controls and business system best practice.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in business administration or commerce.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including strong technical aptitude with corporate software systems.
- Proven ability to work in a sophisticated computerized environment. Strong working knowledge of an accounting software is required. Experience with Unit4 Business World’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool is an asset.
- Proficiency in using Excel. Working knowledge of remainder of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint).
