Job Title: Financial Analyst - Asset Management

Reporting to: Director, Asset Management

Location: 225 Metcalfe Street, Suite 708, Ottawa, Ontario

Part of the Taggart Group of Companies, Taggart Realty Management specializes in acquiring, developing, and managing residential, office, and commercial properties. With a steady flow of new projects underway in Ottawa and Kingston, we are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Asset Management team as a Financial Analyst.

Work Description:

The Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting the Director of Asset Management by providing timely and accurate reporting, developing valuations, projections, and forecasting models. The primary focus is on evaluating income-producing assets, including retail, office, residential, and commercial rental properties, to enhance and expand our portfolio while aligning with the company's policies and business strategy.

Major Responsibilities

Financial Analyst

  • Collect, review, and process financial data of managed buildings
  • Develop Excel models for asset financial evaluation
  • Provide insights to the director based on financial analyses
  • Assist in asset management plans and investment opportunities
  • Contribute to budget preparation and property valuation
  • Ensure accurate variance analysis and investor reporting
  • Analyze key performance metrics and market trends
  • Support the development and reporting of KPIs
  • Track project progress and maintain cashflow models
  • Assess potential investment opportunities
  • Conduct financial analysis based on market conditions
  • Summarize real estate data for decision-making
  • Prepare marketing materials for partnerships or investments
  • Administer day-to-day tasks and asset tracking
  • Maintain insurance and asset management strategy updates
  • Perform other asset management-related duties

Statement of Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Post-secondary education in finance, economics, or related field
  • 1-2 years of Financial Analysis experience
  • Advanced financial modelling skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office tools
  • Experience in real estate returns calculation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Interest in pursuing CFA certification
  • Effective relationship-building skills
  • Initiative, drive, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
