Job Summary

The Financial Analyst will be primarily responsible for working with Project Managers and the Financial Services Manager to analyze the transactions of completed capital projects and transfer the Work in Progress (WIP) balances to the fixed asset ledger on a timely basis.

Along with the Financial Services Manager, the Financial Analyst will assume ownership of fixed asset process as well as the budgeting and forecasting of depreciation.

**Job Description**:
Key Accountabilities
- Review completed projects and work with project managers to analyze costs and set up the respective fixed assets
- Review projects for componentization and determine appropriate quantity and classification of assets
- Determine appropriate useful life for depreciation of assets
- Assess whether new assets replaced or resulted in the decommissioning of existing assets, and seek approvals and dispose of existing assets accordingly
- Review accrued depreciation on ongoing projects on a quarterly basis
- Undertake or participate in special projects, as assigned

Education
- Graduation with a bachelor’s degree or diploma from a recognized university or college and acceptable specialization in commerce, business administration, economics or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Professional designation is an asset

Experience
- 5+ years relevant knowledge and experience
- Must have experience in financial analysis and manipulating large volumes of data. This would include strong computer skills, particularly with Excel, and the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise form.
- Workday and Power Bi experience would be an asset

Knowledge
- Knowledge of research, data collection, validation, verification, and analysis methods and techniques
- Knowledge of financial management and accounting principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards, particularly methods, techniques, trends and developments in financial analysis and reporting
- Knowledge of IFRS, particularly accounting policies related to capital assets
- Knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting
- Knowledge of evaluating expenses to determine appropriate classification between Operating and Capital expenditures

Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks in a changing environment
- Ability to work independently with minimum direction and supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle multiple requests and conflicting deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and a detailed and methodical approach to work plans and execution
- Ability to review material for accuracy and completeness and take appropriate action

- Investigative mindset with a desire to filter through high volumes of data to arrive at a solution

Working Conditions
- Hybrid - This position will require on site office work (Ottawa) with the possibility of remote work in accordance with NAV CANADA’s Flex work Policy in effect.
