The Coordinator of Volunteers will recruit, train and maintain create a group of trained skilled volunteers to work with offenders in the community.

Duties and responsibilities

**Administration**
- Prepare monthly and quarterly status reports for each volunteer who attends an orientation program or other training.
- Develop recruitment strategies to find and engage new volunteers
- Interview and match potential volunteers
- Verify volunteer references and ensure security clearance is received before applicants are accepted as a volunteer Assess volunteer suitability to program
- Work closely with the Case Management Team to ensure appropriate services are provided to offenders identified with mental health issues.
- Track time spent on various components of the contract to be submitted in funder reports
- Prepare monthly reports to our funder that include the following:
**Organization**
- Conduct information sessions and give presentations to a broad range of agencies, organizations, officials, and educational facilities within the Vancouver Island Community Corrections Area
- Recruit, screen, train, supervise, and support 30+ volunteers per year
- Schedule and facilitate a one-day volunteer orientation program regularly, or at least 1 every 3 months, regarding volunteer roles and responsibilities, including Code of Conduct, Access to Information Act, Privacy Act, and confidentiality.
- Ensure that each new volunteer has completed orientation training before providing services and training sessions.
- Organize an annual volunteer recognition event to coincide with volunteer recognition week

**Community Engagement**
- Establish a broad recruitment base, including local service groups, chaplaincy and faith communities, universities, colleges, and volunteer centers
- Broaden the volunteer base to reflect the ethnic and cultural diversity of local communities and offender populations by extending recruitment initiatives to various cultural organizations

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary education (Criminology, Social Services, or related field

Experience working in Volunteer Management
- Experience working with marginalized populations
- Experience in a leadership role

Job Requirements
- A reliable Vehicle
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Carry provided cell phone to facilitate your contact with the CAMS volunteers
- Criminal Record Check and Enhanced Security Clearance

**Salary**: $24.87-$28.00 per hour
