The Inventory Control & Loss Prevention Supervisor is responsible for minimizing inventory loss due to theft, fraud, and operational errors. This role involves monitoring security systems, conducting audits, cycle counts and implementing strategies to prevent shrinkage. The supervisor will collaborate with store management and staff to ensure compliance with loss prevention policies and procedures.
**Compensation is commensurate with experience.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Regularly monitor inventory levels to identify discrepancies.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and perform full inventory audits to ensure accuracy. Use RFID technology and other inventory management tools to track stock levels and prevent discrepancies.
- Monitor security systems, including alarms and CCTV cameras, to detect and prevent theft and unauthorized access.
- Identify and investigate incidents of internal and external theft.
- Implement and manage loss prevention programs, initiatives, and policies in partnership with store management. Train staff on these programs and ensure ongoing compliance with safety and loss prevention standards.
- Document theft incidents, security violations, and observations made while on duty. Prepare detailed reports on shrinkage incidents and audit findings.
- Train employees in loss prevention techniques and inventory management best practices. Provide ongoing education and refresher courses on policies and procedures.
- Support store management in implementing shrinkage reduction strategies and resolving operational issues. Use exception-based reporting systems to identify dishonest activity and operational inefficiencies.
- Maintain regular communication with store staff. Foster cross-departmental communication to address common issues and develop cohesive loss prevention strategies.
- Perform other duties as required to support the store operations.
**Experience**:
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and inventory accuracy principles.
- 1-3 years retail experience (preferred).
- Experience with loss prevention technology and methods, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to recognize and address unsafe working conditions.
**Education**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in loss prevention, security, or law enforcement is a plus.
**Skills**:
- Strong observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and tools, as well as MS Office.
- Familiarity with Canadian federal, provincial, and local laws regarding loss prevention and apprehension.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
