**Position Information**:
The Ottawa Hospital has an exciting temporary opportunity If you are a results-oriented and client-service focused Human Resources professional, this may be the job for you The Labour and Employee Relations Specialist is a key member of the Human Resources team who will utilize their solid conflict resolution, negotiation and relationship building skills to collaborate with key leadership and union partners on a number of labour and employee relations initiatives and processes.

This position is temporary until approximately November 1, 2024 with a possiblity of extension.

**Rotation/Shifts**:
Days, 8 hour shifts.

**What you will do**:

- Being the lead LR representative at all stages of the dispute resolution process including grievances, mediation and arbitration;
- Providing advice and support to all levels of management on a variety of LR issues;
- Engaging stakeholders in developing LR strategies; participating in Labour Management committee meetings;
- Participating in the collective bargaining process, conducting research, drafting language proposals, participating in negotiations;
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with union partners.

**What you will bring**:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or in a related discipline (preferably HR/Labour Relations);
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience with a strong focus on Labour Relations;
- Proven technical expertise in Labour Relations as demonstrated from working in a unionized environment;
- Experience in providing advice and support with regard to labour relations matters involving discipline, performance, attendance management and other conflict situations;
- Experience in preparing for, presenting and representing an organization at grievances;
- Experience in preparing for and representing an organization at mediation, rights-arbitration, interest-arbitration, Ontario Human Rights Commission hearings, and Ontario Labour Relations Board hearings;
- Experience in preparing for and participating in contract negotiations;
- Solid knowledge of contract administration/interpretation;
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR policies and procedures, collective agreements and employment-related legislation (Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Employment Standards Act, Public Hospitals Act, etc.);
- Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Strong interpersonal and analytical acumen;
- Ability to work effectively in a team and autonomously to manage tight deadlines and multiple priorities;
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact and a high degree of confidentiality ;
- Strong presentation, facilitation and negotiations skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
