**JOB PURPOSE**
The Evening Manager is responsible for the coordination of evening services and programs at one or more locations and is available to support staff at all Cornerstone locations while on shift. The Evening Manager supports the work of evening and weekend employees and volunteers to improve social functioning, physical, mental, and emotional health, and general wellbeing of residents.
- **Responsibilities**_
Service User Program Delivery
- Organizes programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
- Provides support and leadership to front line staff when developing and implementing programs for Service Users.
- Provide shift supervision to ensure guidelines and protocols are upheld.
- Acts as the first point of contact for all Service Users question and complaints.
People and Interpersonal Responsibilities
- Takes leadership in selection, orientation, training, supervision, mentoring,
- guidance and evaluation of employees
- Ensures mutually beneficial integration and support of volunteers
- Assigns responsibilities and ensures supervision for staff and students
- Maintains a positive relationship with union through implementation of collective
- agreement and good labour relations
- Build and maintain relationships with members of the community, key individuals,
- and other organizations
- Encourages organizational participation in community and national efforts to
- increase affordable housing and end homelessness
- Participates in the Manager on-call rotation.
- Provides back up support to the Associate Director to support during crisis, vacation, illness etc.

- Ensures that documentation for all areas of responsibility is complete, accurate,
- reported, effectively communicated, and safely stored according to the
- organization’s protocols.

- Supports financial requirements, such as, purchasing, budgetary processes, and reporting.
- Works with the Director of Human Resources to develop job descriptions, policies
- and other activities that benefit the entire organization.
- Provides leadership to and participates as a member of, the Joint Occupational
- Health and Safety Committee.
- Makes the safety and security of all who access their facility a top priority by promoting and coordinating a continuous improvement model to facilities related matters.
- **Facilities Oversight**_
- Liaise with the City of Ottawa to ensure prompt maintenance and repairs of shelter premises on a regular and seasonal basis.
- Other related duties as required.
**REQUIREMENTS**
**Education and Experience**:
- University degree in a social services or related field, or equivalent is required
- At least four years’ experience in a social services agency is required, preferably in a residential setting providing women’s services
- At least one year of supervisory experience or equivalent leadership experience is required, preferably in a unionized environment
- Experience working with volunteers is an asset
- Bilingualism is an asset
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
- Strong understanding of the issues faced by women and seniors living with poverty, mental illness, addictions, trauma, abuse, and discrimination
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Good crisis intervention skills, including the ability to be patient and show empathy and compassion
- Empowering philosophy and approach; respect for diversity
- Ability to develop new programs to meet resident needs
- Proven ability to manage employees with a diversity of functions in a unionized environment
- Strong community development skills to interact effectively with volunteers and the community
