**Coordinator, Young Adult Settlement Support**

ISANS is seeking a Full-time Coordinator, Young Adult Settlement Supportresponsible for providing direct support to government assisted, young adult refugees who face significant barriers to settlement during their first years in Canada. Support will focus on addressing and overcoming various barriers including orientation, goal setting, employment, language, and education. Reporting to the Supervising Team Lead /Manager, Refugee Resettlement, the Coordinator, Young Adult Support Program will be responsible for:

- Providing settlement case management services for refugee youth who require more individualized services
- Provide one-on-one needs assessment, settlement plans and referrals, information and orientation sessions, and support to young adult refugees encountering difficulties in adjusting to life in Canada and helping them to address and overcome those difficulties
- Work collaboratively with Youth Life Skill, Employment and Language services and community partners to ensure efficient and effective use of all relevant programs and services are adapted to the needs of young adult refugees
- Provide links between the newcomer young adults with specific settlement needs and existing resources in the community
- Gathering feedback from clients on a continual basis to determine the supports that are needed
- Organizing and facilitating monthly settlement sessions with young adult refugees
- Preparing and coordinating orientation sessions including inviting guest speakers to speak on topics such as wellness, life in Canada, employment and education, laws, rights and responsibilities, and volunteering and other topics relevant to successful settlement and integration
- Using art, music, dance, and poetry to help youth express themselves and to contribute to their community

Ability to treat young adults concerns with respect, tact and sensitivity, whilst always being aware of the limits that are required by confidentiality and the necessary professional boundaries.

**Education**:

- Bachelors Degree in Social Work/Health/Psychology/Education
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted

**Experience**:

- 2 years’ experience in a similar youth serving position
- Experience working in diverse and inclusive setting and delivering direct service to immigrant youth preferred
- Experience delivering service face to face, in group settings and online
- Experience with networking, outreach and building partnerships
- Experience in group facilitation
- Experience developing, implementing and evaluating programs or projects

**Knowledge**:

- Knowledge of trauma informed and empowerment practices
- Knowledge of local organizations, programs and services important to refugee youth resettlement and integration
- Knowledge of diverse refugee youth populations, their needs and experience including those of 2SLGBTQ1+ refugees

**Skills**:

- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Additional languages an asset

**Terms of Employment**
- Fixed term contract to March 31st, 2024, renewable pending funding confirmation
- Full-time, 35 hours per week - flexible work hours
- During the COVID-19 pandemic, your work location may be at ISANS’ office or at home. Work location will be determined by operational requirements, public health recommendations, and government requirements.
