Business is Jammin’ (BIJ) is a province-wide charitable initiative of the Black Business Initiative (BBI) that focuses on motivating Black and minority youth and stresses the importance of education and personal development in all of its programs. BIJ’s goals are to deliver a comprehensive enterprise and entrepreneurship learning strategy and instill business skills that will offer long-term benefits to young people. BIJ shapes youth into vibrant members of the business community. We work with young people through a range of educational, social, mentorship, and financial support programs to build business acumen and leadership skills.

**Job Summary**

Business is Jammin’ is comprised of three main components: identification of young talent, training, and business development. Supporting the Manager, Business is Jammin’, the Youth Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the implementation of all Business is Jammin’ components targeting youth from ages eight to 35. The Youth Program Coordinator will also lead some BIJ initiatives, and support some BBI initiatives as required.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

This role is responsible for performing the following duties:

- Lead assigned youth programs.
- Support the preparation and coordination of training programs for youth;
- Conduct regular needs assessments to identify ongoing training and programming requirements;
- Research and source the materials, training programs, and educators;
- Prepare teaching materials and outlines for camps and programs where appropriate;
- Teach curricula as required;
- Promote programs to youth;
- Liaise with internal staff, schools, and community groups to mobilize and organize youth between the ages of eight and 35;
- Make community-based presentations and workshops designed to provide an introduction and overview of BIJ (i.e. Boys and Girls Club of Greater Halifax)
- Represent BBI and Business is Jammin’ (BIJ) at networking events;
- Maintain programming records/database;
- Maintain social media and online presence working with the internal staff team.
- Prepare promotional and marketing materials;
- Support organizational-wide initiatives such as Summit, Directory, the annual general meeting, golf tournament fundraising; and other initiatives as required;
- Perform other duties as required;
**Qualifications and Skills**

The following minimum qualifications are required to perform the essential elements of this role:

- Grade 12 or equivalent education. An equivalent combination of education and demonstrated life experience may be considered;
- Prior experience in an educational environment considered an asset;
- Prior experience working with youth;
- Experience with proposal writing considered an asset;
- A valid Nova Scotian driver’s license is considered an asset;
- Familiarity with the African Nova Scotian community and/or willingness to appreciate, understand and regularly engage with the African Nova Scotian community.
- Experience managing projects is an asset.

**Hours of work**: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm.

**Compensation**:Salary will be based on previous experience.

**Security Clearance Requirements**: Must be able to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check

**Salary**: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
