Job Posting: Sacraments Coordinator

The Sacrament Coordinator is responsible for leading or giving direction to all ministries at Saint Benedict Parish that help prepare children, adults, and families for receiving sacraments. They are tasked with fostering a culture of discipleship with regards to the sacraments—that there would be a primacy in helping people discover Jesus and grow in a relationship with Him, and so hunger for the sacraments when ready.

The Sacraments Coordinator is a member of the Worship and Serve Team, is directly supported by the Worship and Serve Team Lead (Noreen Smith), and works in alignment with the Pastor and the Parish Leadership Team.

Key Responsibility Areas:

- clarifying and casting vision for disciple-centred participation in the sacraments;
- being directly responsible for overseeing the volunteer-led ministries involved in preparing people for the sacraments:

- Baptism Preparation
- 1st Reconciliation & 1st Communion (PACT: Preparing and Celebrating Together)
- Confirmations (working in alignment with the Youth Minister)
- Marriage Preparation & Weddings
- Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
- providing support for the current leaders and helping to onboard new leaders and volunteers;
- participating in the Worship and Serve Team, being supported by and supporting the other staff on this team;
- gathering from all sources the necessary documentation required for someone to proceed in receiving the sacrament for which they are preparing;
- supporting the Office Team in maintaining our sacramental records;
- carrying forward our mission and vision by developing and offering their unique calling, gifts and experiences given by God.
- has a personal living and active experience with the Roman Catholic liturgy and sacraments;
- has a professional level understanding, as demonstrated in education or experience, of the Roman Catholic liturgy and sacraments;
- has a passion for the role of the sacraments in the life of a follower of Jesus, in the lives of families and the life of a parish, and the ability and desire to learn and grow;
- has the capacity to lead, develop, and teach individuals and groups about sacraments;
- has experience working within teams, strong communication and organizational skills and attention to detail.
