Under the ED's supervision and in line with MBIA's mission, goals, and procedures, the Group & Programing Assistant plays a critical role in delivering services to individuals with acquired brain injuries and their caregivers.

This includes facilitating support and education sessions, managing crisis, offering information, liaising with partners, ensuring participant safety, and fostering community integration and personal growth.

**ADMINISTRATIVE AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT**
- Distribute newsletters, create advertisements and fundraising documents, and support MBIA events, including walks or fundraisers.
- Provide document preparation, editing, and project management support. Grant reporting, stats, metrics, and reports.
- Actively participate in team meetings, development sessions, and team meetings.
- Manage online calendars and mass communication for events.
- Presenter or guest set up, AV/IT, power point equipment, Zoom links, YouTube sharing
- Compile, report and submit monthly statistics for programing, or funders deliverables by the 15th of the month for the previous month. Collect all volunteer stats and submitt.
- Monthly meetings with provincial programing staff and volunteers.
- Attend MBIA meetings, continuing education and participate on Teams Chats.

**SERVICE DELIVERY & SUPPORT**
- Conduct preliminary intake for clients seeking MBIA's programming, ensuring policy compliance and mandate.
- Monitor safety during programs, offering support and referrals as needed.
- Organize and provide refreshments, resources and tools.
- Provide participant evaluations post sessions.
- Assist clients in planning, problem-solving, and goal setting to improve their socio-economic conditions and overall quality of life.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA).
- Work alongside peer support volunteers to deliver resource sessions, coffee chats, and respond to public inquiries.
- Work alongside regulated professionals and experts, assist with programing and presentations.
- Educate and support individuals with lived experience and caregivers about the effects of acquired brain injuries.
- Manage conflict and de-escalated problematic behaviors.
- Report when service users or clients are at risk to themselves or others.
- Adopt a person-centered approach, offering tailored services.

**PROGRAM SUPPORT & OUTREACH**
- Engage in outreach within communities to prevent further deterioration among those affected by brain injury.
- Deliver brain injury public education to combat stigma.
- Engage in outreach activities geared towards community integration, development of compensatory strategies, social enrichment, and rehabilitation.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Relevant degree or diploma in Social Services, Human Services, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and knowledge of WordPress.
- Demonstrated proven consistency in work performance, including reliability and flexibility.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in crisis intervention and deescalating conflict and disruptive behaviours.
- Familiarity with harm reduction principles.
- Ensured proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Word for administrative tasks.

**SKILLS & COMPETENCIES**
- Highlighted sound behavioral management skills and problem-solving skills as key to the role.
- Occasional physical tasks, including lifting and movement as part of the job function, reflecting the hands-on nature of the position.
- Training including Non-violent Crisis Intervention, CPR/First Aid within the first 3 months, and open to continuous professional development.
