**Specialist.**

**Summary**:
The Library’s key expert with in-depth knowledge of youth, this person is responsible for
identifying and executing strategies to achieve organizational priorities of diversity, inclusion
and belonging, related to youth. Areas of focus include positive youth development, social
and community connections, school success, life skills, mental wellbeing, creative expression,
tech/digital skills, reading, and lifelong learning.

This role collaborates, supports, and advocates for innovative, high quality, relevant Library
services that are designed with community input. A key responsibility is removing barriers to
library services and ensuring that both public facilities and virtual spaces are inclusive,
accessible, and welcoming for youth of different backgrounds with a variety of needs. This
role also includes regular outreach to build connections with youth in the community.

Responsible for functional leadership and to achieve high quality client experiences and
maintaining a positive and safe environment through excellent communication skills. Mentors
staff in alignment with Library goals and values as a respected functional leader and role
model within a learning organization. Acts as the in-charge staff member and is responsible
for the operation of Library branches when scheduled.

**Salary**:$32.81 per hour
**Hours**: 35 hours per week

- Develops positive relationships with youth, especially those experiencing ongoing

- Develops and maintains positive partnerships with community organizations to offer

high quality, low barrier ongoing afterschool youth drop-in programming.

- effective library services, resources (physical and digital), spaces, and events that
inspire and support youth’s reading, digital literacy, school success, and life skills.

- Designs, coordinates, and evaluates relevant library services, events, and outreach with

the community to increase client participation and value with the aim of continuously
improving services and programs.
