Support Staff - Full-time Temporary Appendix D Contract

Support Staff Full-time Appendix D Contract Replacement Position (Immediate - October 27, 2023)

(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)

**Responsibilities**:

- Advise applicants and prospective applicants on suitable program choices and alternatives
- Assist agents and students who are experiencing problems accessing the International Application Service portal
- Update the Student Information System (SIS) status of the applicant and record status changes as required
- Ensure transcripts have been submitted by the applicant or agent for assessment
- Organize and prepare document completion for credential assessment and admission decision
- Use judgment to determine if the applicant has enough time to obtain their visa based on the program and selected program start date taking into consideration the posted visa turnaround times on the Citizenship and Immigration website
- Liaise with International Admissions Officers on applicant and program statuses
- Run reports from SIS as requested by Manager or Vice President, International Education
- Request signed authorization for student-initiated agent change requests and update SIS accordingly

Qualifications:

- Minimum One-Year Certificate in Office Administration or another business, education or science-related field
- Two years of experience preferably in a college environment with practical experience in student/client services required
- Experience working with a large database system is preferred
- Related practical experience working with newcomers to Canada and new Canadians
- Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills
- Superior oral and written communication and listening skills
- Effective time management skills and demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in demanding situations
- Highly developed client service skills and ability to respond and problem solve with tact, diplomacy, discretion, and professionalism
- Compassion and ability to determine when flexibility can and should be exercised
- Demonstrate patience and appreciation for cultural differences
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
