**JOB SUMMARY**:
Under the direction of the Recreation Therapy Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating the volunteer program. The position includes recruiting, training, orientating, evaluating, retaining current and new volunteers, managing the database, matching volunteers with opportunities to match their skills and scheduling volunteers through management software. The Volunteer Coordinator connects and fosters partnerships with community organizations through in person meetings and social media to spread the vision, mission, and values of Tabor Village. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and communication to continually expand the network of volunteers across Tabor Village.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Develops and maintains content for volunteer recruitment, orientation and retention like manuals, policies, and procedures of volunteer program.
- Conducts volunteer interviews, information sessions and facilitates orientation for new volunteers.
- Adheres to confidentiality requirements of organization, and volunteers in the program when obtaining sensitive information like Criminal Record Check results.
- Maintains the schedule of the volunteers and tracks their hours completed within the organization through volunteer management software.
- Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the organization in collaboration with department directors (i.e Support Services).
- Motivating, supporting, monitoring and accrediting volunteers for the works they have accomplished through celebratory events and awards.
- Monitor and evaluate volunteer activities and write reports
- Develops partnerships with multiple community partners, churches, and local business to communicate volunteer opportunities and develop relationships.
- Promote volunteering externally in the community through recruitment, publicity strategies, and campaigns through social media and in person meetings,
- Actively raising staff awareness of the role and the function of volunteers, connecting volunteers to staff needs and requests
- Keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and make any necessary modifications to accommodate changes.
- Participate as a stakeholder in event planning and collaborating with other departments for Tabor Village wide events (i.e Community BBQ)
- Work with the Director of Finance to create and maintain a budget for the volunteer program
- Attend relevant committees and meetings as needed, maintaining applicable databases, and undertaking any other administrative duties.

- Other duties as assigned by Recreation Therapy Manager

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Grade 12.
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Humanities or Communications, Diploma in Gerontology, Volunteer Management, OR 2+ years of equivalent leadership experience
- Two Covid-19 vaccinations.
- Reliable vehicle along with Class 5 license with the ability to drive between sites within Tabor Village

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**:

- Strong interpersonal communication skills like listening, presenting, collaborating, and communicating in team environments, with volunteers, and various community groups.
- Highly motivated problem solver, with the ability to work independently and multi-task.
- Able to use social media (i.e. Instagram and Facebook) as an asset to fostering community engagement to bring awareness about the organization and events at Tabor Village
- Demonstrates the ability to be a stakeholder in Tabor Village wide events and collaborate with other departments.
- Evident enthusiasm for volunteers and their role, with recruiting, training, and retention
- Ability to follow and implement facility goals and philosophy into the volunteer program.
- Ensures adherence to safety practices and procedures.
- Consistent RAH (Respect, Acknowledgement and Heart) Tabor Village culture and discipline

**SALARY**
- $28.93
