- **Duties and Responsibilities **_
- Ensure accurate data entry, managing health records meticulously, encompassing the comprehensive collection of patient information: referral reasons, medical and surgical history, comorbidities, current medications, allergies (e.g., latex, metals), investigations, impressions, and care plans.
- Efficiently order, review, and track diagnostic imaging and relevant procedures essential for patient care, including evaluating x-rays, interpreting diagnostic and physiotherapy reports, and assessing lab values.
- Discuss surgical and non-surgical options with patients, address inquiries regarding their care plan, and involve the appropriate physician in consultations or follow-ups as necessary.
- Collaborate with doctors, hospitals, and labs to ensure patients are medically prepared for surgery, while verifying completion of all required medical records for their care plan.
- Prepare surgical consents for patients, organize files for future diagnostic tests, and issue prescriptions for physiotherapy and bracing as needed.
- Performing within the full scope of practice of a Physician Assistant within the office as directed by overseeing doctors and management.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and rights by safeguarding personal and financial information at all times.
- **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**_
- Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills while delivering exceptional patient care experiences.
- Possess a deep understanding of various orthopaedic conditions, treatments, and surgical interventions, along with extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excel in conducting independent and thorough patient histories using the OLDCARTS method, coupled with proficient physical examination skills.
- Confidence in interpreting orthopaedic diagnostic x ray and ultrasound imaging, reports, laboratory findings, with strong analytical abilities.
- Exhibit expert problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities to address complex patient cases effectively.
- Can collaborate seamlessly within a primary care team and broader interdisciplinary staff while contributing to a cohesive and efficient healthcare environment.
- Demonstrate patience, compassion, a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities in all interactions.
- Proficient in typography, electronic medical record (EMR) navigation, and computer usage to facilitate efficient workflow.
- Display a willingness to engage in continuous education and training opportunities provided by the employer to enhance professional development.
- **Qualifications and Experience**_
- Canadian Certified Physician Assistant with a valid certification to practice through CAPA.
- Vehicle access to travel between the Windsor and TMC offices as needed during a shift is required.
- 1 year experience working as a Physician Assistant within a specialized medical office or hospital setting preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge in orthopaedic surgeries, interventions, and supportive measures preferred.
- Experience using Accuro, Medeo, and diagnostic software such as PACS and Velox Imaging considered an asset.
- Confidence performing and assisting with clinical skills and procedures, NeoVisc injections, cortisone injections, and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment considered an asset.
- Active BLS certification or willingness to be certified required.
