**PRIMARY FUNCTIONS**:
A. Student Life Programming 55%
B. Student Insurance Support 45%

**Total 100%**

Reporting to the Manager, Student Life Operations, the Student Life Operational Support is responsible for the coordination of student life programming in Brampton, as well as assisting with health insurance for international students, at all three campuses.

This position will work in a collaborative environment, and will be front line/front desk, student centric, and service based. The expected hours for this position will be based on a 35-hour workweek, but will be non-regular to accommodate service to students, events, etc.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**A. Student Life Programming (55%)**
- Supports events and activities for Orientation week each semester
- Supports student life programming, activities, intramurals, tournaments, and other events to enhance student life and promote retention
- Delivery of logistics for on-campus student events
- Assists with direction of student volunteers for Student Life events
- Front line customer service to students in the Student Life Center
- Engages with students regularly to ensure a positive student experience
- Implements opportunities to receive and measure feedback from program participants
- Works with Communications team to manage social media and other communication tools in order to promote student life activities

**B. Student Insurance Support (45%)**
- University administrator for the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP)
- Works with the registrar’s office and financial services to provide updated lists of students to the UHIP provider for coverage
- Answers international student inquiries on UHIP coverage
- Assists international students with the claims process
- Educates incoming students on UHIP through pre-arrival webinars and in-person sessions
- Provides feedback to UHIP on the student experience with the program
- Advocates for changes to the program based on student feedback
- Attends UHIP provided education sessions for administrators
- Ensures compliance with international student proof of insurance needs

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post Secondary degree in any field is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum two (2) years experience providing post-secondary student services is required
- Minimum of one (1) certification in Mental Health response training (non-violent crisis intervention training, ASIST, MHFA, SafeTalk, or equivalent) is required
- CPR/First Aid certification is required
- Familiarity with Algoma University programs and/or graduate of Algoma University, or a Brampton secondary and post-secondary institute is an asset
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills
- Exceptional cross-cultural communication skills
- Computer proficiency; familiarity with G- suite and student information systems preferred
- Ability to work independently for much of the work day
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to present to large groups of people
- Ability to be energetic and build excitement for student experience activities
- Understanding of, and ability to uphold, strict confidential regulations as per university policy
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required
- Willingness to work non-regular hours and varying shifts
- Commitment to understanding Algoma University’s Special Mission and the Seven Grandfather Teachings
- Vulnerable Police sector check is required

**SALARY SCALE**: $43,920 - $54,899 annually
