**Job Summary**:
The Snow Safety Manager will oversee the Snow Safety Program at Whistler Blackcomb. This role is classified as Manager performing at a high level of leadership, capable of prioritizing and strategizing all facets of the job. The job requires strong leadership qualities, the ability to problem solve, think creatively, and have the ability to build a positive culture while building a high performing team.

**Job Specifications**:

- Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time / Year Round 10-Month
- Other Specifics: This is a year-round position with responsibilities in summer and winter months.
- Location: Whistler Blackcomb

**Responsibilities**:

- Plans, directs, and manages, WB’s Snow Safety program and develops long and short-term strategies, policies, standards and techniques related to the program.
- Develops, or oversees the establishment of avalanche policies, standards and practices including Avalanche Safety Measures, training requirements, Search and Rescue Plans, safe and effective use of explosives, explosive transport & storage plans, avalanche incident response protocols, and establishes qualifications for various positions within the program
- Collaborates with, and provides expert guidance to Patrol Management, Company executives, Patrollers and contractors to ensure the safety of staff and guests
- Provides Information to Vail’s Public Relations Director to promote public safety, awareness and education.
- Ensures all financial and personnel resources within the avalanche program a managed effectively
- Manages the recruitment, selection, recognition, appraisal, discipline, training development and motivation of employees
- Establishes and maintains ongoing contact and communication with the Canadian Avalanche Association, Explosive Regulatory Division, Transport Canada, Worksafe BC, etc.
- Oversees and recommends Capital planning and infrastructure maintenance

**Job Requirements**:

- University Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Canadian Avalanche Association Level 3
- Blasting Certification with all endorsements
- 5 years of previous supervisory experience required; ski patrol experience preferred
- Must be able to communicate fluently in English
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
- Computer Skills and communication: Superior written, oral and interpersonal communications skills including the capability to speak in public forums and with Company executives.
- Highly effective written communications skills required for the preparation of technical documentation, as well as a variety of communications materials such as briefings, project reports, project plans, incident reviews, technical debriefs, spreadsheets etc.
