The Service Manager is responsible for all aspects of day to day operations for Beacon Pub & Eatery, as required under the direction of the Restaurant Manager.

**DIRECT REPORTS**: Bartenders, Bar Supervisors, Service Supervisors, Servers, Support Staff

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
In addition to providing leadership, training, and support directly to the Beacon’s staff, the Service Manager also participates in managing day to day operations as required by the business. This position will lead, coach, support, and develop the Beacon’s FOH team in support of the Restaurant Manager and Operations Manager to deliver the highest quality dining experience possible. This role requires an energetic leader with a proven track record for consistent execution of high-quality product and service, a strong organizational skill set, and the ability to take direction and incorporate feedback into their own development, as well as the development of the Beacon team.

**OBJECTIVES**:

- To ensure the proficient day to day leadership, development, and management of the FOH
- Consistently work to control usage, costs, and all other financial aspects of the business
- Maintain and promote a high standard of quality for all F&B programs
- Drive high standards to be a dining destination of choice in Whistler

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**1. **Restaurant & Bar**
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and clearly communicate all service items as they relate to F&B
- Develop and administer product knowledge evaluations and training sessions at the direction of the business and in collaboration with the Restaurant and Operations Managers
- Develop systems and uphold standards (up-sell program, grooming policies, etc.)
- Weekly/daily labour management and scheduling assistance
- Be accountable for all cash control procedures
- Act as backup to the Food & Beverage Office Administrator for daily cash-outs and other duties as needed
- Inventory and cost control management as it relates to FOH supplies
- Manage FOH supply ordering as needed (GFS, Slopestyle etc.)
- Collaborate, assist and support with marketing initiatives
- Assist with repairs and maintenance, initiating service calls and work orders as needed
- Assist with social media content
- Assist in approving payroll hours
- Assist with group reservations and special events
- Ensure Manager on Duty operational checklist is fully satisfied

**2. **Team Member Development**
- Support in recruitment, training, direction, and supervision of both FOH team members as needed
- Provide leadership, motivation, and direction to the FOH team
- Conduct formal and informal performance evaluations on an annual and off-cycle basis
- Foster a team-oriented environment dedicated to exceeding guest expectations
- Participate in the development and delivery of HR and culture-related projects as required

**3. **Guest Experience**
- Ensure all team members are trained to consistently exceed guest expectations
- Lead the effort to implement change based on relevant customer feedback, and resolve any complaints arising from guest experiences in a timely and diplomatic manner
- Proactively engender the development of a team that is knowledgeable and helpful in all aspects of service
- Ensure all bar and restaurant service standards are consistently met
- Act as an ambassador for Beacon Pub & Eatery at all times, demonstrating exemplary conduct both on and off duty
- Other duties as they arise as assigned by the Restaurant Manager or Restaurant Operations Manager

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- **Technical Skills, Knowledge & Professional Experience**_
- Expert knowledge of the food and beverage industry with a keen interest in ongoing learning and sharing expertise
- Thorough understanding of Liquor Primary and Food Primary Licensed establishments and possessing competence with all serving aspects and regulations under these forms of licensing
- Previous management experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Competent marketing and event management
- Minimum 2+ years serving in a high-volume restaurant
- Minimum 2+ years in a FOH management role
- Foodsafe certificate
- Serving it Right
- Computer literacy (Squirrel, Moneris, MS Windows, When2Work Scheduling System)
