The Corporate Procurement and Supply Services Branch (CPSS) is the centralized procurement, contract management and supply chain management authority for the City of Edmonton, and is responsible for setting corporate policy and delivering a full range of business services including procurement, contract management, supply chain, inventory management and distribution, social and indigenous procurement frameworks, and logistics.

As a Strategic Coordinator, you will assist the Branch in delivering quality services that will enable all City branches to meet their business goals and service expectations. Reporting to the Branch Manager, this role will be responsible for strategy development, policy research and implementation, budget overviews and project management.

**What will you do?**
- Develop strategic plans in alignment with Branch and Department goals, contribute to and develop Branch business plans and budget submissions, as well as provide leadership, direction and coordination of strategic and business planning functions
- Provide leadership, research, analysis, monitoring and recommendations on a wide variety of strategic issues and policy development that may affect the Branch
- Write and review Council/Committee/Executive Leadership Team reports for content and completeness, ensuring timelines are met and process is adhered to.
- Write and review briefing notes and memos on behalf of the Branch Manager’s Office for Council/Committee/Executive Leadership Team/City Manager’s Office as required
- Acts as first point of contact for many corporate initiatives and projects; responsible for ensuring that resources are in place for the role required
- Represent the Branch and Branch Manager in a variety of complex corporate, policy and branch initiatives
- Organize and coordinate Branch initiatives
- Support the Branch Manager and the Leadership Team by responding to ad-hoc requests for information, provide confidential advice and prepare ad hoc reports that may have resulted from Council, administration or public inquiries
- Identify opportunities that may influence the strategic direction and policy setting for the Branch
- Monitor and facilitate Branch FOIP and POSSE inquiries and communications with Councilor administrations

**Qualifications**:

- Knowledge, training and/or education in Commerce, Supply Chain, Communication, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science or a related field
- Progressively responsible strategic and management experience including experience managing and working with external consultants

**Assets**:

- Formal professional or technical designation in appropriate area of expertise
- Knowledge, training and/or experience in policy analysis and research, social and public engagement business support, communication, project management processes, financial management, change management, communication and public administration

**Skills required for success?**
- High political acumen with the ability to analyze sensitive issues and respond to or advise Branch Manager and other senior leaders as necessary
- Proven ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, large volume, deadline-driven environment in diverse areas such as procurement, policy development, communications and project management
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information, translate ideas and concepts into effective and efficient strategies, problem-solve using interest-based approaches
- Expert knowledge and experience in strategic & business planning approaches and implementation
- Ability to work effectively with senior management stakeholders across the Branch and larger organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and presenting to diverse audiences
- Willingness to develop strong, strategic, relationships and deliver work in a collaborative, integrated manner

- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate innovative plans

**Conditions of employment & work environment**:
