At MacEwan University, we are seeking a skilled Strategic Procurement Manager to lead our procurement operations team. As a key member of the Procurement and Contract Management Services department, you will play a vital role in shaping our procurement strategy and ensuring compliance with trade agreements and internal policies.

About the Role

This is a full-time continuing opportunity, working 35 hours per week, MSA Band G (Steps 1-8), with a salary range of $38.475 per hour. If converted to an annual salary, this would be approximately $79,331.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchasing and Contract Services
    • Providing stewardship of the administrative process for acquisition of goods and services;
    • Leading strategic sourcing initiatives and critical contract negotiations;
    • Executing, leading, and managing complex, high value contracts;
  • Risk Management and Compliance
    • Performing risk assessments on competitive bids and agreements;
    • Ensuring quality control and compliance with trade agreements and procurement related internal policies and procedures;
    • Identifying and escalating risk and compliance issues.
  • Leadership and Team Development
    • Assigning work and projects to staff, ensuring deadlines and requirements are met;
    • Providing coaching and mentorship to staff on procurement strategies;
    • Participating in recruitment, on-boarding, and training processes.
Requirements

We require a minimum of a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Additionally, we seek candidates with:

  • A Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or an equivalent certification;
  • A minimum of 7 years of related procurement operations experience;
  • Experience within a public sector institution or a large organization.
