**Compensation**: Prorated for 4-month contract from $50,000 annual salary

**Company Description**

Youth WithoutShelter (YWS) is an emergency residence and referral agency serving homeless youth age 16-24. We don’t just provide a warm bed for a night; we are dedicated to providing shelter and individualized support through our wraparound programs including case management, life skills, employment, housing and counselling. We are a safe, non-judgmental, comfortable home dedicated to diverse, client-focused services designed to move young people out of homelessness and reach their goal of independent, stable living.

We have become known as a house where a youth’s culture and needs are understood, and where all operations are trauma-informed and designed to be youth-centric, build self-esteem and resiliency, and focus on personal strengths.

A larger percentage of our funding is generated by our philanthropy team.

**Position Description**

As the Volunteer and Event Specialist, you will coordinate the volunteer program including budgeting, recruiting volunteers, scheduling and engaging with volunteers, promoting YWS to the community, volunteer orientation and supervision when on-site or at an event. You will oversee the Gift-In-Kind Program which includes securing, receiving, documenting and distributing GIK donations and assist in the planning and running of fundraising events.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Volunteer Program Management**:

- Assess volunteer needs to support program delivery.
- Manage the volunteer program budget.
- Evaluate and improve volunteer programs and services.
- Administer policies, records, and statistics related to volunteer activities.
- Write volunteer position descriptions in collaboration with program areas.
- Maintain the YWS Volunteer Handbook.

**Volunteer Engagement**:

- Promote the program to community, employee groups, and youth.
- Act as the main contact for volunteer inquiries and explore new engagement strategies.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies.
- Oversee intake and screening processes to ensure volunteer alignment with YWS needs.

**Volunteer Leadership**:

- Orient volunteers to YWS services and integrate them into programs.
- Provide training, supervision, and evaluation to ensure volunteer success.
- Supervise onsite volunteer projects, especially for employee engagement

**Gifts-In-Kind (GIK) Management**:

- Serve as the primary contact for GIK donors, organize and distribute donations.
- Maintain accurate donation records in Raiser’s Edge and ensure receipting.
- Proactively seek new GIK sources and manage inventory.

**Events Management (Expanded)**:

- **Time4Change Event**: Support planning and execution.
- **Cover Me Urban**: Assist in planning the final event in 2025.
- **New Signature Events**: Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy to design and execute two new signature events—one for Major Gift donors and one for new supporters.
- **Sports/Team Engagement Event**: Lead the development and organization of this new event, launching in fall 2025.
- Coordinate with committees, vendors, and key stakeholders to ensure successful execution of events.

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in events, community development or volunteer management, or equivalence experience
- Experienced driver with valid G License
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player
- Takes initiative and utilizes innovative techniques to source volunteers and donations
- Ability to interact respectfully with diverse population of colleagues, stakeholders, donors, volunteers and vendor
- Work flexible hours as needed
- Proven ability to develop and manage budget
- Capable of scheduling and managing timelines
- Effectively plan, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects
- Strong documentation and reporting skills (knowledge of Raiser’s Edge is an asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
