**Salary**: $2,942.57 to $3,864.69 bi-weekly ($76,801 - $100,868/year)
**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, the Team Lead, Reporting Internal Controls is one of two team leads in the Financial Reporting team who share responsibilities of financial reporting team function including meeting financial reporting requirements, internal financial controls, research accounting issues and provide recommendation to management, liaise with the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and Treasury Board and Finance (TBF) and providing backup for each other.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead a team of accountants to complete all monthly/quarterly financial reporting and disclosures according to ministry and government policy, processes and timelines for the Ministry, which includes the department and agencies.
- Lead on the preparation of the consolidated annual Financial Statements, including schedules and other supporting working papers for the ministry for inclusion in the Annual Report.
- Develops and maintains all operational financial management and disclosure processes in line with government legislation and policy, and accounting standards.
- Supervise and lead Accounting Officers on compliance reviews to ensure the government and the department's policies and processes are followed in the transactions.
- Monitors changes to accounting standards and government financial policies and processes, adjusting ministry policy and processes as needed.
- Liaises with program areas as needed on any project management and systems issues.
- Provides advice and recommendations to the Director, as needed, to respond to ad hoc requests.
- Provides training and supports opportunities for staff to grow and develop in their roles.

**Qualifications**:
Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA or legacy designation) plus 3 years additional related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Required:
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Sound knowledge of Risk Management and Internal Control concepts.
- Supervisory experience or leading a team of business professionals.
- Advance skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Assets:
- Knowledge of the Government of Alberta's applicable legislation (e.g., Financial Administration Act, Fiscal Planning and Transparency Act, Government Organizational Act and Alberta Public Agencies Act)
- Working knowledge of 1GX reporting tools including SAP (System Applications and Products in Data Processing) and BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation)
- Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)
