**Summary Of Responsibilities**:
**Visionary**
- Provides oversight and leadership in Academic Planning and Review; participates in curriculum planning
- Participate actively in fundraising efforts and initiatives by liaising closely with the Development & Alumni Relations Office;
- In conjunction with the Dean and Vice-President, Students & International, coordinate and promotes student events;
- In consultation with the Dean, pursue opportunities to establish links with other academic programs and professional organizations and to develop co-operative projects with the external community.

**Strategic**
- In conjunction with the Dean and Director, Academic Relations, participate in the planning and preparation of the annual budget for the Faculty of Arts & Science;
- Oversee the annual planning and budgeting of Guest Speakers, Lecture Series, Artist in Residence programs, special workshops, presentations and exhibitions for Grad Ex;
- Work with program Chairs on initiatives and cross-program collaboration.

**Operational**
- Conduct faculty performance evaluations for CLTA, Continuing, TIS, Tenure-Track and Tenured faculty in accordance with University policy;
- Collaborates with Faculty Curriculum Development Centre (FCDC) in setting the agenda for and delivering TA training;
- Facilitates the resolution of individual student matters as they pertain to courses, scheduling, and program plans;
- Organizes Faculty Talks on a bi-monthly basis, including returning sabbatical and new faculty presentations; Assists the Dean in space and equipment planning;
- Work with the Dean to communicate and consult regularly with students and faculty regarding matters pertaining to the Faculty of Arts & Science;
- Liaise and work with the Writing & Learning Centre, on issues relating to literacy and student learning;
- Assist the Dean in other related tasks that contribute to the successful operation of the Faculty of Arts & Science;
- Ensure the academic excellence and integrity of the Faculty of Arts & Science programs as well as alignment of all teaching and learning practices with academic standards and university policies;
- Assists the Associate Dean, Academic Affairs as required with managing student offences under the Academic Misconduct Policy;
- In consultation with the Centre for Emerging Artists and Designers (CEAD), oversees academic concerns of all Internships/ Co-op Placements /Mobility exchange needs for LAS and SIS;
- Works with administrative office staff to ensure website content currency.

**Qualifications**:

- A tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at OCAD University;
- A terminal degree in a relevant field, with a PhD preferred;
- A minimum of five years’ experience teaching at the post-secondary (university) level, an excellent record of professional/scholarly activity; prior experience in educational administration an asset;
- An excellent record of professional/practice-based research;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational abilities;
- A record of academic leadership with prior administrative experience, preferably within a post-secondary art institution;
- Proven collegiality and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to take initiative;
- A familiarity with and respect for the diverse range of current issues in post-secondary education;
- Demonstrated knowledge relevant to decolonizing, Indigenizing, and diversifying curriculum;
- Experience proactively advancing equity and sustainability in curriculum, teaching, scholarship, and creative/professional activities;
- Established leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment for students, staff, and faculty;
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff, with student academic counselling experience an asset;
- A demonstrated understanding of the ways in which equity and sustainability are fundamental to the quality of student experience and to innovative scholarship.

**Terms Of Employment**:
This appointment will be made for a three-year term, from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026.This position is full-time and consists of approximately 60% administration and 40% teaching, the scheduling of which will be determined in consultation with and agreement of the Dean, Faculty of Arts & Science. This academic leadership role includes an annual stipend with access to professional development funding.
