- Tuesday, March 12, 2024Under the general direction of the Dean, this role is responsible for the management of all graduate academic programs within the Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) as well as for leading development of future graduate programs for approvals by the university and the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance (Quality Council). This role is also responsible for the development of existing and future joint or dual graduate degree programs between TRSM and/or other university units and/or other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

- Providing leadership, advice and counsel on a wide range of issues arising with faculty, staff and students involved in graduate programs within or in affiliation with TRSM;
- Providing leadership and guidance to Graduate Program Directors on a wide range of academic and administrative matters related to the effective and efficient functioning of graduate programs within TRSM in compliance with normal university policy and practice;
- Leading the development of future graduate programs for approvals by the university and Quality Council;
- Leading the Graduate Program Council, under the guidelines of the TRSM Faculty Council, including the administrative and governance duties of the Council;
- Participating in annual budget setting process; advocating for and preparing positions and submissions to protect or create spending allocations; conducting reviews of resource allocations and usage; reviewing budget reports and dealing with variances through collaboration with the Director of Finance, TRSM;
- Ensuring (i) proper allocations of all budgets, resources and workloads associated with graduate programs, (ii) support staff assignments help meet strategic program goals and priorities, including improving academic quality of programs and applicants, (iii) high levels of professional placement post-graduation;
- Developing and exploiting media relations and contacts for program PR; and developing and placing appropriate marketing materials, ads and other forms of program promotion;
- Monitoring and assessing program compliance with learning goals and outcomes and overseeing the production of annual documentation and filings for accreditations and standings;
- Liaising with the Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies as required to complete local TRSM priorities; participating on various committees related to graduate studies within the university;
- Participating as a member of TRSM’s senior management in the development of strategic plans and academic priorities and providing advice and counsel to the Dean on matters within their portfolio as appropriate to the role;
- Participating in external ambassadorial, ceremonial or community-based activity as appropriate to a senior academic managerial role within a Faculty; performing other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned;
- Directly supervising staff positions associated with graduate programs; indirectly assigning and managing graduate teaching assignments (in collaboration with Graduate Program Directors and/or undergraduate Chairs or Directors with regard to workload and release)

Some teaching will be required (1 course per year).

Applicants must be tenured TMU faculty members with relevant experience, who hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a business-related or other relevant discipline. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, SRC and service activities, exemplifying the following:

- an ability to be a visionary, empathetic and collaborative leader with superior organizational and people skills;
- experience in managing a large portfolio of academic administrative matters, for example, as a chair or director;
- an ability to implement data-driven decisions;
- experience in curriculum design and implementation;
- strong commitment and experience in innovative pedagogical practices:

- familiarity with operational issues in the University;
- a commitment to an international perspective with respect to students, partnerships, and collaborations
- a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning; and
- an ability and willingness to work effectively in a team-oriented, unionized environment and to assume and maintain a broad perspective that is inclusive of the diverse units within the Faculty.
