The Governance and Curriculum Services office provides research, policy analysis and development, and records management functions for the governing body of the Faculty, ensuring strict confidentiality. The office has two main areas, Governance; and Academic Integrity and Petitions. The Governance area provides for formal secretariat support to meetings of Faculty Council and its standing committees, ensuring governance bodies have the necessary information to engage in substantive discussions and to make informed decisions. The Academic Integrity and Petitions area manages appeals tribunals, the pre-hearing preparation of student appeals files on academic standing,the inclusion of documents or other evidence and the jurisdiction of governance bodies to hear an appeal. Student Academic Integrity intakes and reviews all cases and ensures that hearings and decisions are based on principles of natural justice and administrative law.

**Your opportunity**:
Working under the direction of the Director, Faculty Governance and Curriculum Services, the Associate Director, Governance and Curriculum Services, is responsible for the smooth functioning of the Arts & Science Council and its standing committees, including the Agenda Committee; the Graduate, Humanities, Social Science and Science Curriculum Committees and the Committee on Admission. The Associate Director supports and advises the Dean, Vice-Deans, and Department Chairs to ensure compliance with academic governance,, including the interpretation of policies, the approval process for changes, and rules around adding, changing, or closing courses or programs. The Associate Director also ensures that all committees and Council and committee members are operating in compliance with the Faculty’s constitution and by-laws.

In collaboration with the Director, Student Communications, the incumbent also overseesthe production of the Faculty of Arts and Science annual academic calendar, ensuring the timely integration of curricular changes and resulting in an academic calendar that is accurate, up-to-date and comprehensive.

The incumbent is the first point of contact for academic units and the Dean’s Office regarding whether a proposal represents major or minor modifications, and develops processes to ensure proposals pass through the appropriate consultation and approval processes. Working closely with the Vice-Dean, Undergraduate, and the Vice-Dean, Graduate Education, the incumbent will serve as a resource on academic change to help manage ongoing discussions in a timely way. The incumbent also provides input on whether a proposal requires assessment from a financial, strategic, operational, or student-experience standpoint.

The Associate Director oversees the consolidating, writing and submitting of governance documents for approval, including procedure documents, Terms of Referencefor Committees and proposals for curricular change. The Associate Director researches best practices on academic governance policy and advises the Director on how governance processes may be improved. The Associate Director assists in preparing and delivering the orientation sessions to the new and returning members of Council and its Committees.

- Overseeing day-to-day service delivery requirements and operational needs
- Liaising with academic units and stakeholders to support academic calendar production initiatives
- Analyzing statistical information to inform enrollment projections and planning
- Directing a small group in a limited area, including responsibility for scheduling and/or workflow
