MacEwan University is seeking an Engagement Coordinator, Sustainability, for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Facilities department. Reporting to the Manager, Sustainability, you will be an ambassador for MacEwan University, engaging and connecting with students, faculty, and staff to support MacEwan’s sustainability goals and foster a culture of environmental responsibility. You will plan, develop, and coordinate outreach and engagement activities that support the promotion and implementation of sustainability initiatives across campus, in addition to coordinating the sustainability volunteer program, organizing volunteer opportunities and recruiting, training, supporting, and overseeing volunteers.

Key responsibilities include:

- Serving as a first point of contact for sustainability related inquiries and the volunteer program, while acting as MacEwan’s sustainability ambassador;
- Identifying MacEwan’s sustainability priorities to inform engagement and outreach planning and coordination;
- Facilitating inclusive and accessible engagement, outreach, and educational activities through training, forums, roundtables, speaker series, events and focus groups;
- Gathering ongoing feedback from stakeholders to gauge awareness, attitudes and behaviours related to sustainability and analyses date to refine outreach strategies;
- Developing multi-channel communication plan for sustainability initiatives,, leading public awareness campaigns, creating and distributing educational materials and preparing publications and news pieces for outreach;
- Managing MacEwan Sustainability communications channels, including the website and social media platforms;
- Purchasing materials and supplies for events;
- Developing, coordinating and maintaining the Volunteer Program by recruiting and training volunteers, organizing and tracking volunteer opportunities and hours, coordinating large-scale volunteer activities for key events, matching roles to volunteers’ skills and interests, and fostering strong relationships through regular communication, feedback, and recognition; and
- Building and maintaining relationships with campus and community groups to identify collaboration opportunities for joint sustainability initiatives and volunteer efforts, and connecting with counterparts at other post-secondary institutions to collaborate and share ideas.

- Knowledge and understanding of engagement planning, event coordination principles, and communication techniques;
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, report writing, and presentation skills, in a variety of formats for various audiences;
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills;
- The ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and creatively conduct outreach;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva; and
