**Your opportunity**:
The Assistant Registrar is a critical member of the team and supports the ongoing development and maintenance of office systems and procedures in the Registrar's Office. Along with the Associate Registrar, the Assistant Registrar provides ongoing guidance to staff who provide front-line student services. In addition to promoting a welcoming environment in the College for undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds and serving as an academic advisor, the Assistant Registrar is also responsible for monitoring students' eligibility for graduation.

As a member of the New College, the Assistant Registrar will be committed to an equity that recognizes, supports, and responds to the diverse histories, lived and marginalized experiences of international students and many communities.

This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Implementing plans and process improvements for records administration activities
- Planning and overseeing operational workflow of petitions and/or appeals activities.
- Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals
- Advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences.
- Liaising with others to coordinate logístical modifications to service delivery
- Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services
- Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum four(4) years’ of recent and related experience with student academic advising, and experience with administrative procedures in a university setting, preferably in a college registrar’s office.
- Experience working with Faculty of Arts and Science curriculum offerings and regulations.
- Experience working with and supporting undergraduate students.
- Experience and sound knowledge of best practices in advising and student services.
- Experience working with and advising international students and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working with and advising academically at-risk students.
- Demonstrated strong student service orientation and experience fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in a post-secondary environment.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Advanced skills with ROSI/ACORN, DegreeExplorer, or other similar enterprise database solutions/CRM systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and organize work, and meet tight deadlines while able to pay attention to detail.
- Demonstrated skills and ability to provide effective guidance and advice to students in a responsive, empathetic, thoughtful, and discreet manner.
- Knowledge and understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

**Assets (Nonessential)**:
