Overview:

In this role, you will report to the Deputy Registrar and support modernization of the adjudicative process. You will lead and assist with projects comprising the action plan for the Framework for Review of Intervenor Processes and Cost Awards; help assess opportunities to leverage technology to increase the efficiency, quality, and value of the Registrar’s Office functions; establish feedback processes with applicants, intervenors, staff and Commissioners; and consider how to enhance the value of adjudicative information available to stakeholders both internally and externally.

You will be responsible for managing and completing projects designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the OEB’s adjudicative process. This will entail conducting jurisdictional reviews, evaluating information, identifying and analyzing issues, developing recommendations, and engaging with stakeholders. Projects will pertain to a variety of themes, such as: examining ways to further engage with representatives of Indigenous communities on participation in the adjudicative process and developing guidance documentation to clarify rules and eligibility for cost awards.

This position will provide a unique and valuable opportunity to understand and examine the OEB’s adjudicative process and how it can be modernized. You will consider new and innovative methods to improve the adjudicative process and the functioning of the Registrar’s Office. You will help leverage changes to policies, practices, training, and technology to drive process innovation and operational change

**Responsibilities**:

- Assists or leads non-standard adjudicative projects by conducting jurisdictional reviews, identifying relevant issues, and providing in-depth analysis, strategic insights, and recommendations including, but not limited to, Indigenous engagement, cost awards and other adjudicative processes
- Supports the development and implementation of adjudicative policies, protocols, and project deliverables (e.g., guidance documentation)
- Develops project schedules / trackers, prioritizes tasks, and engages others through the creation of support materials (e.g., memorandums and presentation decks) to advance projects in a timely manner
- Collaborates with a diverse range of project team members including members from the legal department, Commissioners, and executive team
- Gains acceptance of proposed changes from diverse stakeholders
- Represents the organization in stakeholder forums and venues, including engaging with Indigenous communities, intervenors and regulated utilities

Qualifications:

- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Environment or related discipline
- A graduate degree or professional designation is an asset
- 5+ years in the energy sector
- Proven experience in managing and leading projects of varying complexity / sensitivity
- Knowledge of the OEB’s adjudicative process / energy regulatory environment in Ontario is an asset
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate information, identify and analyze issues, and develop recommendations
- Detail oriented, with excellent organizational skills
- Interest / desire to learn about the OEB’s adjudicative process and work at an energy regulator
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills that cater to all levels in the organization and externally
- Strong interpersonal, organization, prioritizing, problem solving and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Adaptability to work effectively in a variety of situations and with various individuals or groups
- Accountability to produce high-quality work in a timely manner
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
