**Development Officer - Fundraising (Canada Summer Jobs)**

**(Temporary Contract - Full Time)**

**(June 17th, 2024 - August 9th, 2024)**

**(35 hours/week)**

Under the direction of Manager, Fundraising; the Development Officer - Fundraising will join the brainstorming team as we explore ways to engage donors and introduce YouthLink to new donors. They will participate in the creation of a social media and quarterly newsletter strategies and content. They will be the lead on creating The Giving Tree (donation program) outreach strategy as well as exploring possible fundraising event opportunities.

**Highlights of Your Role**
- Demonstrated understanding and use of social media, ideally on behalf of an organization such as a school, volunteer organization, community group or company.
- Promotes awareness of the organization’s mission and work.
- Strategically create newsletters and social media updates and contents.
- Research individuals, corporations and foundations that may be interested in gift giving.
- Develops, plans, implement and evaluate aspects of fundraising including gifts.
- Strengthen the relationship between organization and the donors and support leadership in fundraising goals.
- Form strong relationship with external stakeholders.
- Spot new fundraising opportunities and initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals.
- Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Adobe, Canva or other design layout software an asset.
- Other duties and special projects as needed maybe assigned.

**Highlights of What You Bring**
:

- College or University Certification, Diploma in Fundraising, Communications or related field.
- Demonstrated project management and community relationship building experience.
- Previous fundraising, sales or marketing experience would be a strong asset.
- Strong computer literacy skills.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Passion for research.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with team members, volunteers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and balance multiple tasks and planning events.
- Excellent leadership, administrative and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated skill in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices, and specifically using an Anti-Black Racism lens.
- Good judgement; ability to analyze information quickly in order to prioritize and communicate emerging issues.
- Competence with donor management system is a strong asset.
- Experience writing grant proposals, fundraising letters is a strong asset.
- Confidence in public speaking is a strong asset.
- Legal and accounting experience is a strong asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Check required.

**To be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs program, youth must meet all of the following criteria**:

- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of the employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**Hourly Rate**: $16.55 per hour.
