Director of Asset Management Thompson Construction

**Position Summary**
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Heavy Equipment Asset Management**: Develop and implement asset management strategies focused on the lifecycle of heavy equipment, from procurement and operation to maintenance, repair, and eventual disposal. Ensure that all heavy machinery is maintained to the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
- **Maintenance and Repair Strategy**: Lead the creation and execution of maintenance and repair programs for heavy equipment, focusing on preventative maintenance, timely repairs, and minimization of equipment downtime. Oversee the development of a centralized maintenance schedule and tracking system.
- **Operational Efficiency**: Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure that heavy equipment is available and operational to meet project requirements. Implement strategies to optimize equipment utilization and reduce operational costs.
- **Performance Measurement and Improvement**: Establish KPIs specifically for heavy equipment maintenance and repair operations. Use data analytics to monitor performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices in equipment management.
- **Risk Management and Compliance**: Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards and regulations related to heavy equipment. Develop risk management strategies to mitigate potential equipment failures and associated impacts on operations.
- **Team Leadership and Development**: Provide leadership and direction to the heavy equipment maintenance and repair teams. Foster a culture of safety, excellence, and continuous improvement, ensuring staff are highly skilled and knowledgeable in heavy equipment technology and repair techniques.
- **Budget and Financial Oversight**: Develop and manage budgets for the maintenance, repair, and acquisition of heavy equipment. Ensure cost-effectiveness and return on investment for all asset management activities.
- **Vendor and Stakeholder Relations**: Manage relationships with equipment manufacturers, parts suppliers, and service providers. Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure the best terms and conditions for equipment maintenance and repairs.
- **Technology and Innovation**: Stay abreast of advancements in heavy equipment technology and maintenance practices. Lead the adoption of innovative solutions that enhance equipment performance and maintenance efficiency.
**Qualifications**
- Extensive experience in managing heavy equipment assets, including maintenance, repair, and operational strategies, preferably in a leadership role.
- Deep knowledge of heavy equipment technology, maintenance practices, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective maintenance programs and strategies that reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record in building and leading high-performing maintenance teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities, with a focus on operational excellence and efficiency.
- Proficient in the use of asset management and maintenance software systems.
